Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Fern is currently being fostered in HOUSTON. She is available for out-of-state adoption as well to the perfect family. Her adoption fee is $500, which covers her flight to her new family, a travel kennel, and she is fully vetted.**
Fern is about 6 months old and as with many of our great rescues, her mix of breeds is a bit unknown. We feel that she is a Border Collie / Pointer. She is currently about 20 pounds and we expect her to possibly reach 50 pounds as an adult.
This sweet pup had a pretty bad case of non-contagious mange and secondary skin infections on top of that. Fern was missing quite a bit of her hair; her skin was crusty & she was very itchy. In addition, she was underweight, full of parasites and dehydrated. With the care from her foster mom, several vet visits and medications, she has beaten the odds and has become a strong, gorgeous pup without any residual health issues. It’s time to complete her transformation by adding a family to her life.
Fern is great with other dogs, very playful and puppy like. She would do well having other furry friends in her life either in her own family or regular visitors. This silly girl rarely sits still unless someone is petting her and then she is super content. She is such an affectionate girl and loves the attention that her foster family shares with her. In her current family, she lives with an 8 year old boy and they get along very well. She has been very well behaved with everyone she’s met so far, so we feel that she could join just about any family and be a happy girl. She has even become friends with a mini pot-bellied pig! She tries to steal his grass from his mouth but she is a very sweet girl and has never tried to hurt him. She just wants to play play play!
She is still a young puppy, so she does need a family that has time to spend on training and has patience to get through the puppy stages. She is almost crate trained but needs a little more work because her foster mom works long days so she isn’t always able to wait for her to get home. She is learning her leash manners but needs a little more work on this as well. She has a Karunda bed in her crate at night and sleeps like an angel, but this silly girl often gets under it to sleep! She loves Nylabones. All of the work put into the first year of a puppy’s life by her new family will benefit her lifelong.
Fern is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and doing very well in her foster home. She is ready to find her family to complete her transformation. If our little girl sounds like a perfect match for your family, please fill out the application by visiting our website, www.reggiesfriends.org, under the Adoptables tab or email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org for more information. Her adoption fee is $500 to help cover the cost of her airline flight and her travel crate.
