Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is DOOLEY and I am a purebred Dalmatian boy who is between two and three years old. I am a very small Dallie, 37 pounds! Most Dal boys are about 55 pounds so of course, everyone mistakes me for a puppy.
I act a lot like a puppy too! I am just wonderful in the home and I don’t even need crating but I wiggle my butt like a puppy and try to step on your feet when I am happy to see you. I also like to steal the shoes you leave out and make a pile of them by my bed. I am not a bit destructive and I never chew but I still like my security shoes.
I am splendid with the five other dogs here, all boys. They think I am a puppy too so we play chase and tug and chase and wrestle and chase every day. And then I come in and crash on my bed for a long nap.
I used to be an outside dog. I did not like it. I spent my time digging out of my yard. So, the day after Christmas, my family dropped me off at the pound. That was the best Christmas present ever ‘cause my foster Mom came and got me and taught me about inside, warm, fluffy bed, cuddles on the couch, snuggles and chasing with brothers, pets, cookies for showing off, and all kinds of wonderful toys to play with . Now I go out the dog door to go to the bathroom and I play outside with brothers but I spend most of my time inside where I am warm and comfortable. I don’t ever want to live outside again.
So, I am not sure about cats but since I love to chase, probably not a good idea. I know I like gentle and well behaved kids; my foster mom has my grandkids over every Wednesday, all day, and I love them (ages 3,4, and 4 1/2) but I will tell you, my foster mom would really be upset if they didn’t treat us doggies very well. So kids are OK as long as they are nice kids. I am a nice doggie.
I also really want another playful doggie for me to have as a playmate. It helps me to use up energy when I can run around , chase, and play with a friend. That means YOU wouldn’t have to be the entire entertainment committee for me.
So if you want a forever boy who will love you with my whole heart, I am the boy for you. I ask for time and attention and pay you back with a joyful and happy heart. Love, Dooley
From Dooley's foster mom: This boy is an absolute love and most enjoys playing or cuddling with his human. His early life was miserable, no socialization, no human contact. So he wants to make up for that with lots of time and attention now.
He will need gentle encouragement to overcome his shyness with strangers and visitors. He is worried he tries to quickly becomes comfortable, especially when the new person gets down low and gives treats. We train in a motivational, positive, and gentle way to overcome his former heavy-handed contacts with humans.
you can contact Dooley’s foster mom, Lyn @ cnspotz101@q.com or 505-857-0012. He is located at Dalmatian Rescue of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He is neutered, UTD on vaccines and HW tested.
There is an adoption donation.
