Special Needs: Pearl and her babies are available as indoor house pets only -- they may not be used for guardian and / or protection purposes and may not be left alone outside unattended under any circumstances. They must ALWAYS be supervised by an ADULT. They must always be on a short lead when in public and cannot be loose, even in their own yard, unless enclosed in an inescapable fence that keeps them in and everything else out. This is to ensure they don't have an opportunity to get into trouble and that they cannot be falsely accused of wrongdoing. Otherwise, because of their heritage and the fact that many people are afraid of their 'type', they could be labeled 'dangerous', confiscated and destroyed without regard as to whether or not they actually damaged and / or harmed anyone or anything. In general, they cannot be adopted to homes with frail adults, small children, or other pets (particularly if the other pets are smaller and / or of the same sex). They will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption and a home visit will be required prior to placement.
Birthdate: Babies, Dec 06; Pearl, unknown, but probably around Jun 03
Arrival into Foster Care: Dec 06
Description: Healthy, adorable pups; 3 red / gold brindles, 3 livers, 1 black brindle; most with white markings; mom is a white, slightly spotted, red nosed American Bulldog and dad appears to have been similar.
Circumstances of Rescue: Mom was pregnant and about to deliver when when picked up by San Antonio Animal Control; she was sent to a foster home to have the pups; the pups will be spayed or neutered and microchipped and ready for adoption at approximately 12 weeks old; and mom will be available after being spayed, microchipped, and treated for heartworms.
(These were originally SA ACS fosters but are now being privately vetted and placed because SA ACS no longer adopts out 'pits'.)
