Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mindy Lu here coming to you from the coolest place I’ve been so far, my foster parents house. See I don’t remember much about my life previous to arriving at my foster parents so this has been the coolest place ever. However I’m looking for what they keep calling my furever home and I’m really hoping THAT place will be the coolest place ever.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself, see I’m what they call a Bagel. I’m a Beagle and Basset all in one and I love it. I’m short and long like a Basset but I definitely have the Beagle color and the Beagle voice. My foster parents tell me that I am very vocal but I just like to talk to them a lot, I don’t know what the big deal is.
I get along great with my foster brother and my foster sister. My foster sister took a little longer to warm up to me but eventually my Bagel charm won her over and now all 3 of us play like crazy. Sometimes my foster parents can get a little annoyed because we make the house our very own race track but what can you do, I LOVE to play. I’m almost completely house trained, I’ve only had 2 accidents in my foster parents’ house and they are really proud of me. I am also working on crate training. I go in there when they leave for a little while and I go in there at night but it isn’t my favorite place. I bark a little bit but I do calm down. Can I tell you a secret? I’ve worked one over real good on my foster parents. I am a great snuggler and every night around 4 am I wake them up to go potty (which I need to go because I’m still little) but the best part is that I get to sleep on the bed after that. They didn’t even know but I really worked them over. They tell me all the time what a great cuddlier I am, are you ready to have a great cuddlier in your life?
Foster Parent Note: Mindy Lu is the sweetest little thing and has been an absolute riot to have in our home. She is really good with her signals to go outside. She does show some signs of separation anxiety, so it's best that she go to a home where she will not be the only dog. She absolutely loves to snuggle, and I can promise that if you've got a dog with dirty ears, you'll never have to clean them again. She LOVES to give ear kisses. (And you may not have to buy q tips again either) Over the weekend we had our nieces over and she is great around children, though she can get a little nibbley, she is a puppy after all.
Please read our Standards for Adoption, the Beagle Camp Diaries and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog who will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements; and for families with very small children, puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets and hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
