My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

3/5/16 Updated Bio. Justice is a 4 year old ShihTzu/ Terrier Mix. He is about 13 pounds. Justice is being fostered in Byrdstown ,TN.

Justice has had lots of tender loving care and is starting to show just what love can do for little fella that found himself in a bad situation. Our vet said Justice never had heartworms and the only issues that he has had is the demodectic mange and an ear infection. After over month a treatment with Ivermectin his hair is growing back and shows no sign of stopping. He receives baths with a special shampoo every other day to clean the pores around the hair follicles to allow his hair to grow in faster. Pretty soon we may have to change his name to Hairy. He just keeps looking better everyday!

Justice loves to eat and has gained 2 lbs. living with his foster mom and dad. Justice loves playing with his five doggy foster siblings and is such a lover when it comes to sofa time. Justice is even younger than we thought as his birthday is coming up on 3/13/16 which means he will be only 4 years old. He is potty trained as long as you are disciplined enough to take him out. He doesn’t particularly like it when it rains, but he will go out if you take him. He also knows how to use potty pads if necessary.

Justice has been neutered, micro chipped, his teeth were cleaned, and has had all his shots. He is ready to go to his forever home. Are you the person that can provide the perfect home for this little boy?

Justice is 5 years old (estimated) and weighs 11 pounds. He is mostly likely a Shihtzu/Terrier mix being fostered in Byrdstown Tennessee.

Justice has been aptly named based on our hopes for him as well as for those persons responsible for his current condition. Justice comes to United Yorkie Rescue from our amazing partners at Animal Rescue Corps (ARC). Justice was part of Operation Resolution; a large abandonment/hoarding and cruelty case in Hardin County TN. He was living in a building with many other abandoned animals. The flooring was completed decomposed from urine and feces and the ammonia gas levels were so high that the first responders had to wear gas masks and hazardous materials gear in order to remove Justice and the other animals from the scene. You can learn more about this case and see footage of Justice and his sibling Murphy by viewing the ARC footage https://www.facebook.com/AnimalRescueCorps/videos/1140049302695057/

Over the next few days Justice was given nutritious food, a safe place to lay, medical evaluation and medical care. At this point, ARC reaches out to its valued shelter partners to finish the work that they begin. UYR will now take over Justice’s care by providing a more permanent foster home, additional medical care and eventually a new forever home. UYR gladly stepped up for Justice and his brother Murphy who were very sick and in fact were the first two dogs to leave the ARC shelter so that they could immediately begin to receive the care that they need. It is likely Justice has lived in severe conditions most of his life…..we can’t know for sure. We can say that his skin in in terrible condition from being literally eaten alive by fleas and demodectic mange. He is also malnourished and dehydrated, has ear infections, infected teeth and he may also have heart worms. He has large open sores over all of his body, his feet are swollen and raw, his lymph nodes are swollen, his skin is thick and leathery and he is in very rough shape. He is already receiving the love and medical care that he needs to heal. He will be going for testing on Monday and we will know for certain then if he has heart worms. He will also need to be neutered before he can be adopted. In spite of his poor medical condition, Justice is just the sweetest and most loving little boy you could EVER hope to meet. He will let you hold him in your arms like a baby, he will give you kisses, he will “grab” your arm with his paws as if to say “I’m holding on to you for dear life……..please don’t leave me”. He can also be playful as this short video clip demonstrates http://youtu.be/QbW3_j80x8k

Justice is not housebroken and not leash trained. How could he be given the life he has known? However, he is very smart and eager to please so we believe he will catch on very quickly. He has only been in his foster home for one day, but so far he is okay with the other pets (dogs and cats) in the home. He eats well and follows his human around like a shadow. We are just getting to know Justice so please stay tuned for updates in the coming days. If you have additional questions about Justice you can email his foster Mom at tnyorkierescue@gmail.com
