Here's what the humans have to say about me:
1/22/09
Nigel (formerly Taz) is a striking brindle boxer boy, barely one year old and very affectionate. He’s extremely intelligent, watches everything you do and learns quickly.
Nigel is truly a wonderful boy. His original owner loved him very much, but lacked the time he needed to establish his proper role in the home, and he existed pretty much without boundaries or limitations. This led him to believe he was the leader of the household, and developed in him a sense of needing to be dominant.
Nigel has been doing wonderfully in his foster home for the past several months. He has made tremendous strides in his training, and wins the hearts of everyone who meets him. That is, every human. Sadly, the elderly female boxer he has been living with has become jealous of his achievements, and as Nigel approaches adolescence she is becoming increasingly intolerant of his playfulness. Because of this, we believe he would do better as an only dog, in a home where he can continue his training program without the interference of another dog.
We have been working on his leash-walking skills, and this has improved tremendously, though he still needs work. He takes food gently from your hand, knows sit, down, stay (for short periods), and can shake both hands (okay, paws!). He’s getting really good with the ball, and will bring it back most of the time.
Nigel seems to gravitate toward men, and someone who works from home or can be around a lot to work with him would be the ideal situation. He’s a fairly large boy, and will need lots of leash-walks to expend his youthful energy. Although he has plenty of enthusiasm, he is not at all hyper. He has had no experience with children, and because of his desire to take over, he’d do best in a home where there are no young children. If you are an experienced dog owner and think this sweet boy would be the ideal fit for you, please fill out our online application as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you! - - - - - - - -

Take a look at this cutie. His name is Taz and he is ready and waiting to go to his forever home. Taz is such a friendly, happy boy. He gets excited when he sees new people. He seems to have some issues with his leash, so a fenced in yard is a must for Taz. He knows some basic commands and seems very eager to please. Since he's a younger, energetic boy a home with children over 12 is also a requirement.
