Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Update 10/08/08: Shalomar is coming into her own. She is a happy, playful, high energy, one year old with the typical Yorkie attitude! An experienced Yorkie owner would be ideal for her. Shalomar's forever home will have a fenced yard so she can run and play and burn off the excess energy that goes hand-in-hand with being a one year old Yorkie puppy. She really needs a playmate, whether it is another dog or active children who will play with her - both would be ideal. She loves her person and wants to please, hopping into our laps at the first invitation. She is still working on her potty manners, usually will use a pee pad inside but still forgets on occasion. She gets very excited when we leave and then come home, if company stops over or if the others start barking. However, after a rambunctious greeting, accompanied by lots of kisses, she does settle down. She is a sweetheart and will smother you with puppy kisses, chase a toy (and almost bring it back), and needs lots of exercise to run off her excess energy. Shalomar responds very well to positive reinforcement, always comes when she is called and will heckle another dog to get them to play with her.
UPDATE 8/07/08 At 10 months, 9 lbs Shalomar is a playful, happy little girl. She loves playing with toys in the yard, running with the other pupsters and always seems to have a smile on her face. She loves her person, gently hops onto an available lap and curls in a ball to take a quick power nap. She is generous with her puppy kisses and has never met a stranger. She loves everyone she meets. She will be getting a dental the week of August 4th and will be available for adoption the week of August 11th. Shalomar's adoption fee is $500
UPDATE 08/01/08 a bit barky but we are working on it. Also working on potty training - some days are better than others.
Update 07/19/08: Stunning and loving - the two words that come to mind immediately when I want to describe Shalomar. She has the most gorgeous tri-color coat you've ever seen. I have not been able to take a photo that really shows her colors but she is quite simply beautiful. Shalomar is 10 months old and weighs 8.1 lbs. She is a little thin and I think she should be at 9 or 10 lbs so we are working on helping her gain weight. She was spayed on 7/16/08 and needs to heal before going to her forever home. Shalomar also needed a dental to remove a canine to allow her adult tooth to come in and foster mom forgot to tell the vet, so this will need to be done and she needs her 2nd DHLPP booster. She is UTD on all vaccinations.
Shalomar loves being around her person and will very gracefully hop in your lap if you sit down. She has learned to wait for an invitation (which comes very quickly because she is such a good girl.) She walks like a little princess on a leash and enjoys going for walks. She will use a pee pad when in the house. Shalomar and her mom Molly were both recently spayed so they are confined to prevent injuries so right now her walks are short and she does not have access to the doggie door so she has not learned to use it. She is a bright, happy little one and is going to make someone a wonderful family pet. She would do well with children, other dogs and the jury is still out on cats. She has a very loud bark and does bark at the cat. She loves to cuddle up next to her foster mom at night and will sleep with her head curled under my chin. Shalomar's adoption fee is $500. If you are looking for a family pet to give and receive love, please press her adopt button and fill out an application.
Original Bio: 07-12-08: Shalomar is an owner surrender who will turn one in August. She weighs 8.1 pounds and has a beautiful tri-colored coat.
She needs retained baby teeth removed which will be done when she is spayed.
Please watch the site for updates for when she will be available for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting Shalomar and/or have any questions about her, please email her foster mom @pcumberledge@wideopenwest.com
