Adoption Pending

Astrid is a very sweet but timid young girl who is about a year and a half old. She was living on the streets and arrived very thin, covered in fleas and scared of every human being she saw. It took a couple days for her to start opening up to the idea of human compassion and after just 10 days in our shelter she is really starting to like people. She is good with dogs and cats but definitely needs to be in a calm home without young children. Sadly, she is heartworm positive but is likely at a very early stage and would be a good candidate for the slow kill method which is no different than standard heartworm prevention.
UPDATE: After a month in our shelter, Astrid is really starting to come out of her shell. She is still quite timid but is also showing us her playful side. She does wonderful with other dogs as well as cats.
