My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Beautiful, Beautiful Duchess. This very lovely girl is now ready to meet her family in Vancouver. We believe her to be 4- 5 years old. She is a stunningly lovely girl on the outside and calm tender girl on the inside. She has this lovely silvery sleek coat that simply glistens.

True to her Weimaraner breeding, she is a submissive, happy, loving, intelligent, cheerful, calm, loyal and affectionate dog. She is good with children and great with dogs. Duchess is one of those dogs that will need to be exercised. This breed learns quickly but will get bored if the training is the same thing over and over again, so giving her a daily job would be a great way to keep her happy and content. She is super smart, so we are hoping for an equally smart new family for her.!! This gal will have it over you very quickly.

Because of her breeding as a hunting dog with a propensity of strong prey instinct, we think she might be squirrel chasing happy, but have yet to see this in her. Short leash training will be important to learn in the first little while, to assist in keeping a watch over her, to ensure she doesn't chase after those squirrels. Again, we haven't seen any chasing but want to make sure new families will take this into consideration. She is Smart !!

Weimaraners absolutely crave leadership and Duchess is no exception to this. She loves her people and wants to please. She is very eager to please and is motivated by reward (food or praise) that once a trick is learned, she will leap to repeat for praise. Her job is to keep you happy in her mind. She is really a very nice dog and the family that is the successful adopter will be a very lucky family.

No Borders Animal Rescue Society (NOBARS)

We are a registered non profit society. All our dogs are vaccinated, sterilized and are fostered in homes with families.
NOBARS believes that a dog is best assessed for a new home environment by living in one!!!! Therefore we do not use kennels, but have a network of approved foster homes where our dogs can be properly assessed before being offered for rehoming. Our foster homes offer a varied range of experiences which means we can choose an appropriate foster home for each dog, but it also means our dogs are able to experience situations which are invaluable to owners looking to take on a new forever friend, such as children, cats and other dogs.
