Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Rufus is currently being fostered in Houston and is available for out-of-state adoption to an amazing family. His adoption fee is $500, which covers his transport home and he is fully vetted.**
Rufus found himself at a local high kill shelter when he was picked up as a stray from a rough part of Houston. The staff and the shelter fell in love with him and could not bear the fact that he may have to be euthanized due to limited space at the shelter. They reached out to us and asked us if we would be willing to take Rufus into our rescue. Rufus had a foster angel step up and make space for us to bring him in and wow are we glad we did!
Rufus is around 35 pounds, he is underweight, but is not very tall. We do not think he will be a big man, probably around 45 pounds when he is back to his ideal weight. Rufus' is a medium energy guy, so he would do fine in an apartment setting providing his family was committed to giving him proper exercise and stimulation. Rufus wants nothing more than to be his new families' best friend. He is very affectionate, great a listening, walks nicely on his leash (his foster mom was able to off-leash with him in just a few days!). Rufus is still working on his basic manners, he like to jump up for attention, but he is a smart guy and is learning quickly.
Rufus is fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped), but he is still underweight and needs to gain some muscle tone. He is eating well and will have no problem getting back to his ideal weight. Rufus is house and kennel trained and ready to leave his foster family for his forever family!
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application on our website www.reggiesfriends.org. If you hover over the "adoptables" tab, the link to the adoption application will appear. If you have any questions about our process or about Rufus, please contact us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org
