Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We seem to be on a sad roll lately with mom's unable to keep their border collies due to health reasons, but we applaud their courage to do the best thing for their dog. Remy is 18 months and a registered ABCA and AKC puppy. She is a very sweet girl that is adjusting well in her foster home and gets along well with other border collies and medium/large dogs. She is too rambunctious for small dogs.
Remy is a naturally happy, active girl. She loves to play and is of course, “off-the-chart” smart. We have had her in the rescue longer than usual before making her available for adoption. Given her impressive working dog pedigree, we took the time to let her go through several herding lessons to see if her herding DNA was her destiny. While she did okay, it didn’t seem to be her passion.
We also spent time with her socialization. Coming from a home in which the human’s had health issues, she felt that she needed to protect her humans and would bark and air snap at strangers. Her foster parents provide leadership now and Remy is much more comfortable letting them be in charge. She meets strangers and quickly accepts them now. Air snapping is almost gone entirely from her behavior and only occurs from being unsure of herself and being pushed too fast. She is fine with children 12 years or older, but she gets too excited around younger children to live with them. Supervised visits with younger children should be fine.
Remy’s passion in life is running and chasing a ball or Frisbee. She is a natural ham and loves to show off. If she knows you are looking, she performs with more gusto. She can turn 360 degrees in the air and can flat foot jump over tall obstacles. It seems to us that she would be a natural in free-style Frisbee shows and would be an amazing crowd pleaser. She should also excel at standard agility as many of her close relatives have done.
While this girl truly needs a job, it doesn’t need to be an every day, full time occupation. She settles down in the evening and enjoys TV time (tummy rub, snuggle time). She knows that she is exceptionally cute and is not afraid to use her looks and personality to get what she wants, so be prepared to be manipulated.
If interested, please complete an on-line application from our website: www.lookbackrescue.org. Her foster mom will quickly contact you and you can ask more questions.
