Here's what the humans have to say about me:
10/14/2008 - I've been adopted!
UPDATE 7/9/08: Abraham went to the vet again for a full check-up and to get the results of his blood panel. It was found that Abraham has a yeast infection on his skin and a deep ear infection. He was given a medicated oatmeal bath and has special powder to put on his skin until he heals. Also, the blood panel showed Abe was taking too much Potassium Bromide, which gave him a very high Sodium level in his blood. The doctor is weaning Abe off the Potassium Bromide to see if he needs to take it any longer for seizures. If Abe remains seizure-free, he will not need that medication any longer. Once he is weaned off the medications, he will also be getting a dental.
Abe is turning into such a happy and playful pup! Abraham still makes a snorting sound when excited. He has been put on a low-sodium/low-fat diet to help with his breathing. Abraham loves to give us kisses and enjoys the other pups in the house. He is a real sweetheart and just so adorable! If you think you can give Abe a loving forever home, please fill out an adoption application. His vetting costs to date have been over $500 (with more to come for the dental). We couldn't afford to care for pups like Abe if it weren't for the donations we receive. Please consider a donation of any size to help us keep helping the pups. All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you!!
7/3/08: Hi! My name is Abraham - Abe for short. I am a real cute litte guy with short little legs and a full tummy, but I have a sad story to tell...
I was with my family since I was a puppy, but they came into some hard financial problems, so they did what they thought would be best for me - they surrendered me to the shelter.
I was very scared though since I was not used to being in a strange place, and without my family. Luckily, the shelter knew I needed some extra TLC, so they called Yorkie Haven Rescue to come and get me.
I was so happy to see the Haven rescue mom when they brought me to her, that I started giving her kisses right through the crate I was in! She promised to find me a loving forever home. I take some medicine for seizures, but my foster mom says it isn't expensive and that just like people need to take a couple vitamins or pills each day, so do I. I have been on medicine and not had a seizure in more than two years. I also make a snorting noise when I get excited - foster mom said I sound like a little piglet. This is most likely from a slightly collapsed trachea which is common in yorkies. I am being put on a diet (that doesn't sound good!), but foster mom says that will help to lessen the "piglet" in me and my breathing! I weigh about 9 lbs. which is too much for my small frame.
I love to follow my foster family around the house and I stick to them like glue. Foster mom says I am just darling and I need a home where they can spoil me. I love to go on car rides and I get along with the other pups here.
If you are looking for a really sweet pup to cuddle with and to help provide a loving forever home to, please fill out an adoption form for me - Abraham! I really long for a loving family to call my own again. Thank you so much for caring about me! P.S. - I had to get a all my vaccinations updated and a full blood panel done to check my medicine levels since it wasn't done in a few years, so if you can contribute a few dollars to help me out, I would be so happy. Thanks again!
