Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sox (an outdoor guy) was taken by his owner to a veterinary clinic 3 weeks ago to be euthanized because he was having seizures. The doctor felt this young guy could be treated and given a second chance at life so the clinic contacted our rescue group.
Sox is positive for Feline Heartworm Disease (FHD), which is 10x more common in dogs than in cats. Unfortunately the medication used to cure heartworm in dogs cannot be used with cats, so Sox was treated with several different medications to help ease his symptoms.
He is now on an oral medication twice each day to control his seizures. Since he has been on this med he has not had any seizures.
With partial blindness (caused by the heartworm larvae) Sox can no longer live outdoors and we need to find an indoor home for him.
The cost of his medication is about $20/month: $15/month for the anticonvulsant and $6.66 for monthly heartworm prevention, Heartguard. Sox will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life.
He is a very friendly cat and loves attention. Having recently lost part of his vision he is still adjusting to life using his nose and whiskers to check things out. His prognosis is very good as long as he stays on meds. We are not sure if he will continue to regain more of his eyesight.
The vet estimates his age to be 2-3 years old. Since he is still at the clinic we don't know how Sox interacts with dogs or other cats. But he sure likes people! It was difficult to get decent photos of Sox in the exam room since it was a new space to him and he seemed to be constantly in motion checking things out. Probably happy to be out of his kennel!
Sox is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ear-tipped. He is FeLV and FIV negative.

If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy, we would be happy to transport him just about anywhere in the United States =)
