My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi There! I'm Maxine or "Max" as my foster mom calls me for short! I have just recently begun to learn what love feels like and I have to tell you... I can't get enough!
A few months ago I was living in a house that was full of animals, I was told that it was called a hoard. Really nice men and women came in and took me and the 50+ other animals out of the house and brought us to a shelter where we got cleaned up and taken care of. The shelter was a scary place. The people were very nice but I just couldn't settle in. I was afraid and started to get cranky.
Then, my foster mom came to visit and she decided to take me home with her. She said that I would feel better once I was in a warm and cozy bed. Boy was she right!!!!
I have to admit, I was skeptical at first and wanted to be left alone but once I was given my very own bed and fed lots of treats, I knew that I was finally safe. After a couple of weeks, I started to feel better and began to look to my foster family for pets and cuddles. I am living with a few other dogs right now and although I prefer the little dogs, especially my chihuahua foster brother, the big dog I live with is ok too as long as she doesn't try to sit in my bed!
I have learned to go potty on pads and I never have an accident! I am really proud! I am looking for a family to love me but who understands that I need some time to warm up. Once I do, I love with my whole heart. I need a home that isn't too chaotic and one that allows me to have a place to be alone if I need it. I'm hoping that I can find my forever family in time for the holidays.
