My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chandler is around 1 years old and is a chocolate feist/lab/terrier mix puppy, weighs around 45 pounds, and even has partial webbed paws. He came into the rescue a months back when we received a phone call from a panicked woman whose husband’s cows were getting chased by dogs. She stated there was around 10 dogs and some had even got one cow down. One of the ladies with the rescue immediately made the trip out to the farm as the farmer wanted to just have the dogs removed if possible, but could not do nothing as this was his income and he had to feed his family. These dogs were not his and were a neighbor’s dog who refused to do anything. Chandler’s original owner actually told the farmer to just shoot them (He only threw out dog food and did not help socialize any of these dogs who constantly reproduced). There is no Animal Control in this county to enforce a leash law or to assist in this situation. We were able to catch four puppies and Chandler. Chandler was scared but he wanted to be loved on. He was trapped into a kennel and never tried to escape. We think he knew that he would live to see another day. We immediately brought him home and started working with him. At first he would just lay down when you put a leash on him. He would not budge and would just lay there whining.

He spent a week in the kennel getting adjusted and being quarantined. After that week, he started to blossom. I would walk to the kennel and he would just cry with excitement. He would hold his butt up in the air, put his head on the ground and just wag his tail like crazy. He has been spending some time inside with his new foster mom now.

Chandler has improved while walking on the leash. He is comfortable around the house but going to new locations is still scary to him sometimes, but as long as you are there he is fine. He would not enter the house in the beginning and would have to be carried inside. He is now running into the house on his own which was a huge step for him. He also loves all his foster siblings, who are definitely helping him to come out of his shell. He has a comfort zone and doesn’t like to venture from it but will if you want him to. When we go outside he doesn’t like to leave the back porch or the backyard. He loves staying right by his person.

He loves everyone he meets but will wait to be greeted. He loves his Great Dane sister, JRT brother, Hound sister, and two 8 week old puppy foster siblings. He does not mind the horses at his foster mom’s house either.

He hasn’t had an accident while inside the house and is crate trained. He is heartworm negative, neutered, up to date on shots, and on monthly preventatives. His adoption fee is $350.

**Please note Chandler is being fostered in Tennessee. Dogs on Borrowed Time does adopt locally as well as out of state. We try to find each of our dogs the perfect match prior to adoption. We do have a 14 day money back guarantee if things should not work out minus transport fee. **
