Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Yappie" was found at the intersection of Stonehurst Dr. and Shepherdess Dr. in Huber Heights on Monday, 6-2-08 about 6:30 p.m. This is down the street from Walmart and right off I-70 and Brandt Pike (Rt. 201). This male dog might be a Silkie Terrier - looks like a Yorkie but is larger. He has the blue-black hair with tan and reddish brown ends that parts down his head and back to his tail. Tail has been bobbed. He weighs about 12 pounds and loves to eat. He was very skinny, could feel all ribs and spine when found but has gained a couple of pounds over the past two weeks. He slept for the first 2 days after we found him. He has approximately a 3 mm split in the end of his tongue, well healed. Yappie is a great friendly dog, takes up to everybody and has lots of energy. He is house trained, has only wet in one spot in the house and that is in the small bathroom I put him in the first night. He has wet about 4 times in the past 2 weeks, always in the same spot. He has been great with my 3 year old granddaughter. He will jump up next to us on the couch for petting but after a few minutes jumps down. Very smart, seems to learn very quickly. He enjoys being outside. I don't have a crate for him but think he is probably used to one. He looks for small places to curl up in. He's found a couple of places he can get very comfortable in while here. He loves to play, run and fetch. I think he would be great with other dogs. I don't have cats, so don't know about them. He and my Corgi-mix, Bandit, tolerate each other very well. Yappie tries to walk a wide berth around the corgi because the corgi is not very happy with another dog in his space. They have griped at each other, but no fights. The majority of their spats have been initiated by the corgi, not Yappie. Yappie has not shown any signs of aggression, even when the corgi starts to eat at the same time and I have been able to take his food dish while he was eating to move the dogs further apart. Yappie's biggest problem is that he likes to go. If the door is open too much or too long, he is out the door and too fast to catch. Luckily, he has gone straight to stopped cars and jumped right in the open doors. The other time he got out, he went two houses down and stopped when told to "stop and stay". He waited on me to pick him up and take him back to the house. I call him Yappie because the first day I had him in the front yard so somebody looking for him could see him and he barked at every car that went by. Thankfully, he does not bark much if in the back yard or in the house. He does growl and bark if somebody comes to the door. The most he barks is if my husband goes out the front door without him. He doesn't bark as much if I go out. He also goes for the open door when anybody leaves. He is getting better about staying back when leaving. He is very good about staying back when we come in. He was wearing a bright yellow harness that had rubbed sores on his legs when found. He has a current 2008 Clark County license, number 26832. Clark County Society said license was bought by Pat Clay, 315 S. Burnett Rd., Springfield. Phone number 937-360-5880. Address is Cole Manor Apts. on the east side of Springfield. The apt. phone number is 937-325-3511. The license was just purchased in April 2008. The phone number for Pat Clay is no good and I left a message at the apartment complex for her to call me. The apartment complex could not confirm is Pat Clay still lived there or not. We were unable to find any more information on line for Pat Clay. (I searched under P Clay, Patricia Clay.) The apartment complex referred to Pat Clay as "she". I can be reached at 937-657-2995
