My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated Bio 3/4/2016
Willow is 8 years old, weighs 13.3 pounds and is being fostered in Ashland City, TN. Her adoption Fee is $200. A Veterinary reference, 3 personal references and a home visit are required for adoption.

Willow has had some rough breaks in life. She was a breeder female who had many litters of puppies before she came to us. She developed mammary tumors and her former owner surrender her to us because of this. In our care, Willow had surgery to remove the tumors. Fortunately, the tumors were benign and now Willow is past all of that and should go on to live a full and happy life. After Willow’s surgery her foster Mom noticed that she had a pattern of rapid breathing and would sometimes become anxious as if she could not breath well. United Yorkie Rescue had Willow evaluated by a pulmonary specialist and as it turns out, Willow has chronic bronchitis which has gone untreated her entire life until coming into rescue. This condition is very similar to asthma and means that Willow needs to have medication daily. She takes Flovent (FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE) twice a day through her little doggie inhaler. She is very used to this and does not mind at all. The treatments are not difficult to perform and do not take very much time to administer. The biggest issues with her medication is the expense. Her inhaler meds currently cost about $125 per month if bought though a U.S. pharmacy. However, these are due to go off patent sometime during 2016 and when this happens the cost of her medication should decrease substantially. You can order her medication through a Canadian Pharmacy for about a 25-50 % cost reduction. Anyone considering adopting Willow must have the financial means to afford her medication as she will need to be on it for the rest of her life.

Willow is just the sweetest little girl EVER. She is so gentle, mellow and loving. She gets along great with other pets in her foster home. She loves all people and has never known a stranger. Her favorite thing is to give her person non-stop kisses. Willow is not a fan of being crated or trapped in a small area and this makes her very anxious. We think this is likely due to her days as a breed dog. She likes to have full run of the house so a person who is home a lot would be perfect for her. Willow had issues with house training when she came to us. She has been working super hard on this in her foster home and has made huge progress. However, if she isn’t taken out frequently she can still have “accidents.” For this reason, her foster mom will put a diaper on Willow if she has to leave her for a few hours.

Willow’s best fit for a home would be one where someone is home with her a lot. She is not a huge fan of traveling in the car but she does okay when car travel is necessary. She needs someone who has the time and financial means to administer her twice daily medications and to take her outside frequently for potty breaks. The most important thing Willow needs is a dedicated person who will love her for the rest of her days. You will NEVER find a dog sweeter than Willow. She so worth the effort and expense! We have gotten all of Willow’s medical needs addressed but we are still paying for the care she has already received. If you would like to help us with the cost of Willow’s care it would be SO APPRECIATED! Please go to her Your Caring page at https://www.youcaring.com/willow-501246

Updated Bio: 1/06/2016. Before being taken in by United Yorkie Rescue, Willow's life consisted of nothing but having litter after litter of puppies. When she got here Willow had many medical issues that needed to be addressed. She had several mammary tumors, severely damaged teeth, and really bad ear infections. United Yorkie Rescue has since had her mammary tumors removed successfully, her dental needs addressed, and resolved her ear infections. However, we still noticed that Willow had a very rapid respiratory rate and was having difficulty breathing at rest. She also didn't seem to have much energy. Willow has been to see a respiratory specialist and after additional tests it was discovered that Willow suffers from chronic bronchitis. The good news is that this condition is manageable with daily medications. Since beginning treatment, Willow has become a new dog! She was already sweet and loving, but now she has more energy and runs around and plays like a puppy! Willow is looking for a forever family who is home most of the time and is willing to administer her medications twice a day to keep her healty for remainder of her life. In return Willow is willing to provide all the love and attention and kisses you can handle! Willow adores all humans and animals. She never meets a stranger. Willow deserves to life a quality life full of love and tender care..could you be that special family for her?

Willow's medical expenses have risen as UYR has worked to have her diagnosed and treated. Please find it in your heart to donate to Willows care.

Updated Bio 11-19-15 Willow is a very sweet 8 year old, 13.4 pound Yorkie. She is being fostered in Ashland City, TN.

Willow has settled in at her foster home. Her favorite thing to do is give kisses after kisses! Willow enjoys meeting new people and gets along well with her foster fur siblings. Willow is not a fan of being crated or trapped in a small area. She likes to have run of the house.

The good news it that Willow is making progress in her potty training, but when her foster family isn't home she wears a diaper. She had her visit to the dentist this week and had 9 teeth removed! Don't be alarmed! She still has plenty of teeth left to eat her yummy food with.

Willow had spent her past life having litter after litter of puppies. She is not much for playing with toys, but is all about being with her person and snuggling. She loves sleeping with her foster mom and dad!

Willow would be great in a home where someone is home most of the time. She would also do great in a home with other fur babies. Willow is just looking for love and looking to give love! Wouldn’t you want to make Willow your forever baby? Please fill out an adoption application for her.

Updated Bio 11-1-15 Willow is an adorable 8 year old, 15 lb. Yorkie girl being fostered in Ashland City, TN.

Willow just landed in her new Foster home in TN. She is recovering from surgery to remove mammary tumors. The good news is that surgery was successful and we believe Willow is cured. She still needs to have a dental which will happen this week.

Willow has separation anxiety and does not like to be left alone. She will need a home where her owners are willing to be with her most of the time. She also gets anxious riding in vehicles and is not a fan of traveling. Willow is still working on house training and will need a home where they have the patience to help her continue to make progress.

Her new Foster Mom is just getting to know her so stay tuned for updates as we get to know her better.
