My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We have a black velvet male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. He came to NWI a bit ago, and we estimate he was born around 7/26/2015. This makes him right around 3 months old, and now is a great time for him to go to his new home and bond with his new family.
This male is black and white in color, his color is called “black velvet.” This means he is black on top, with a white belly.
This boy is a trip! He is very curious and can squeeze through small spaces! Better make sure you have no broken bars on your cage with him! He can't get out of a regular cage, but we forgot to attach our feeder, leaving a decent sized hole, which he promptly found and escaped from, several times in a row, before we realized how he was getting out. Very curious, up at the front of the cage ALL the time checking out what you're doing, plotting taking over the world (but first, escaping from his cage!). Haha. Sweet boy. Active and would probably do well with a wheel or playtime, when he is old enough (6+ months). Does just fine with handling and petting, he actually settles down when you hold him. Just energetic when he’s in the cage, and comical to watch. Doesn't bite.
This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if he gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether he might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
This chinchilla would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before, as long as they understand that his energy needs and provide enough room / toys / enrichment to keep him occupied and happy.
This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.
Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.
This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.
This black velvet male would normally be $200, but due to our Fall Fiesta sale, his adoption fee is now discounted to $175. Must be picked up or have deposit put down by Nov. 30.
