Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buttercup is a female "Moo" kitty with adorable cow markings:) and is as cute as a button. She about one year old.
Here is her story........................
She was brought to Hillsborough Animal Services TWICE with her brother, Studley.
Their owners moved out of the foreclosed home and just left these two kitties OUTSIDE to fend for themselves!! The new owner of the home did not want them around but the kitties were confused and would try to get back inside their old home but the new owner would not let them in :(
The new home owner got angry at them and brought them to Hillsborough Animal Services hoping that they would be euthanized and not counting on the TNVR program (Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/RETURN).
So Hillsborough Animal Services brought them to the Humane Society and they were spayed and neutered and vaccinated and returned them to the exact address the husband put on the paperwork.
Buttercup and her brother again tried to get inside THEIR old home and the new owner took them right back to Animal Services and told them to not return them or he'd hurt them. So they were brought back to the Humane Society who called my rescue to come and pick up the kitties to RE-LOCATE them to a colony of cats with a caregiver.
Unfortunately we have to do this a lot because their are just not enough people willing to adopt and so many cats and so few homes.
Buttercup and her brother were NEVER feral and being forced to live with a new colony of cats can create all sorts of new problems for them............. meaning fighting and bullying. More then half the time this causes the kitties to roam and try to find a new place to live and turns very sweet cats into feral cats in order to survive.
Buttercup is VERY SWEET, completely SOCIAL and scared to be outside of even her own home from where they were banished. It would be so much more scary in a new OUTSIDE place in an area they are just not familiar and with other cats that they do not know.
The statistics tell us that OUTDOOR kitties in general only live 2 to 3 years outside!! These kitties do NOT know how to protect themselves because they were INDOOR kitties their whole lives.
I called the Humane Society to see if they had any room at their adoption center and I was told that I could bring them in but after much consideration I felt that Buttercup's brother (Studley) would do GREAT in an adoption center environment but Miss Buttercup would probably be scared. So it broke my heart to separate them but I dropped off Studley at the Humane Society last week.
I kept Buttercup at my house where she is more comfortable so that she could find a new mom or dad in a home setting and not a scary shelter setting.
About Buttercup....................
She has been spayed, tested negative for all feline diseases, flea treated and de-wormed.
She is very ladylike, a little meek and shy but very friendly and loves to be petted and loves attention.
She loves to sit on my lap and snuggles up to my chest and will purr and purr. She is very lady like and mild mannered. She'd be great for an elderly person.
She is very social and loving and would make a great lifetime companion for an older person, retired person or an elderly couple. Or any home where there is not too much chaos. She should not go to a home with children chasing her or to a very loud home. She is very sweet and meek.
She is FREE to a great INDOOR home.
However there are certain requirements in order to adopt her and are as follows....................
She must go to an INDOOR home only.
She must not be de-clawed.
You must be okay with a quick home visit and an adoption contract is required.
You must be able to provide for her needs including food, treats, toys, litter and vet care as needed.
Are you willing to open your heart and your home to this sweet girl? She certainly could use a break.
***** Buttercup's brother Studley can be adopted at Humane Society of Tampa Bay located on Armenia in Tampa at the adoption center!! That would be a VERY HAPPY REUNION for Buttercup!! If he's not on the adoption floor please be sure to see if he's behind the scenes!! Please don't just assume he's been adopted:) You have to ask them to check the computer to see his status.
I promise you that he's the only cat there names "Studley" and is easy enough to find:)
Studley is a Brown or Grey Tabby:) He's also very handsome and SUPER SWEET. That is why I choose to bring him there because I know that he'd do great in a shelter environment and would most likely not be scared. I included his pic here too as a reference.
Thanks for considering adopting Buttercup!
