Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Go Big or Go Home!!!! If that’s your motto, then Apollo the Great is your man. Apollo is a 2 year old Alaskan Malamute and some might describe him as lacking in manners (which we are working on) but we prefer to think of him as a true malamute, exuberant and fun loving. Being a true mal, there are some growls but they are easily corrected and keep in mind, he still is a puppy. Apollo has fit in perfectly with our other two mals and the queen of our household, Ms Gidget, 6lb yorkie. We are working on commands, such as sit, down and leave it but he is a work in progress and doing great. When on command, he sometimes forgets and becomes the cutest pogo stick, once reminded he is easily directed. Apollo is very much a people pup, loves his humans and wants to please. All this 90lb love bug wants is to cozy up on your lap and have endless belly rubs. Apollo is crate trained, with little or no problems. Whoever adopts this “MUSH” pup, will be getting a lifelong beautiful companion.
Apollo came to us via a shelter in Kentucky because of a bite case. He was being harassed by a neighbor through his chain link fence with a stick and the man got a bit too close and Apollo defended himself. We decided to try Apollo in foster care to see if this was a behavioral issue or special circumstances. Apollo was also Heartworm positive when he came to us, so he will need a follow up heartworm test at 6 mo and 1yr post treatment. He is neutered, UTD, dewormed, microchipped and on prevent.
As a precautionary measure will be requiring that Apollo go to a home with children 10yrs or older, no cats, and Apollo does better with dogs that are on more laid back side and not pushy or dominant. We will also be requiring Apollo go through an obedience/behavior course with the new owners with a trainer that is familiar with the breed and works on Pos Reinforcement training. Apollo is a wonderful boy, but in true Moot fashion he needs a confident owner but not one who rules by force. Malamute experience will be a MUST as he is not ideal for a first time Moot owner. He is located in Dayton OH area and you will be required to meet him and his foster family prior to adoption. We want to set Apollo up for success.
Application, Home visit, and contract apply $300 adoption fee.
