Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*Bella is currently living in a wonderful foster home in Houston but like all of our rescued pups, she deserves her very own family. She’s available for local or out-of-town adoption to a very loving family.*
This great girl is a little bit older and wiser than most of our rescues, but that just means she is that much more deserving of a great family. Bella is a Staffordshire Terrier, estimated at 5 years old and she’s currently 55 pounds. Despite her 5 years, she is still quite spunky and has many more years ahead of her to spend with new family.
Bella was a sad case when she was rescued just outside of Dallas. She was picked up by animal control as a stray, wearing a collar and dragging a broken chain alongside of her. Her body told the officers that she had just had a litter of puppies, but despite their efforts, they were not found. Sadly due to overcrowding in the shelters, she was placed on the euthanasia list within days of her arrival. A rescuer out of Houston saw her gorgeous face, fell in love and went to pull her off of that list and promised her she’d have a fabulous future.
Her foster mom calls her Perfection in a Dog. She is a gem and has endless amazing qualities. She is a happy-go-lucky type of girl. She honestly couldn’t get any happier and she always has a smile on her face. Bella is extremely affectionate and will be in your lap if given the opportunity. If that’s not an option, then she’ll just snuggle up against your body and her last choice is clearly the dog bed. Needless to say, belly rubs are on Bella’s agenda!
She would be best in a family where she can be the only dog in the house. She prefers to be the center of attention. She especially does not care for the puppy like or extremely hyperactive dogs. She likes to have her personal space when it comes to dogs, so she’s not a dog park visitor. She currently lives with an older child in her foster home and she adores her. Kids all love Bella because she’s super affectionate with them and will let them pet her for hours.
Bella is perfectly potty trained and kennel trained, so she should have a seamless transition into her new family’s home. She is definitely a dog that likes to be inside with her people, but will trot around the yard for fun too. She likes to lounge on the couch, so a family that doesn’t mind their big girl sharing that space is what she’s looking for. She will fetch a ball, but occasionally in the middle of the game, she’ll plop down next to you for some love.
Bella walks nicely on her leash, loves those walks, takes treats so gently out of our hands, knows several commands (sit, down, let go and come) and rides in the car like a dream just curled up in her own seat. She would be an excellent companion for any family that has a ton of love to share and time to spend with her. Bella actually was adopted 4 short months after she was rescued from the shelter and lived in her family for 2 years, but their circumstances changed and they were unable to continue taking care of Bella as we’d hoped for her, so she was returned to us. We are keeping our original promise to her that life will always be good.
As with many pups that have survived as strays, Bella was affected by the lack of care over that time period. It was found that she was positive for heartworms upon her rescue. Also, it appeared that she had a stick lodged inside of her mouth, but it turned out that she had a piece of her jawbone that was fractured and had to be removed. She’s been treated for the heartworms and is no longer suffering with any issues from her past life. She is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated too.
Overall, Bella is an amazing girl, both in personality and beauty! She is adored by her foster family, yet they cannot continue helping other dogs in need if they keep all of the amazing ones. They say she is the easiest dog they have ever gotten to foster, which is a very significant comment as a rescuer and foster. She is more than ready to start bringing joy to her new family and snuggling up to them too. Her adoption fee is $300. If you need a wise, cuddly, sweet girl in your life and have the love and time to give to her, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org to learn more about Bella.
