Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Riley is a BEAUTIFUL, long haired, female, black kitty. She is STUNNING!! Taking good pics of black cats is very difficult. These are the best we could do but she's way prettier in person.
The heading is somewhat a joke but actually rings true about her personality. She loves you one minute and then can have "catitude" when you least expect it.
When she loves you she REALLY, REALLY loves you. She is a super affectionate girl. At times she can even be OVERLY AFFECTIONATE and if you stop petting her and she's not finished she will actually grab onto your hand for more. SHE will let you know when SHE'S finished.
She is BEAUTIFUL with HUGE, bright green eyes with great big black discs.
She is approx 10 months old. She's very petite. She's got great manners when it comes to being clean and does not seem to jump on counter tops. She uses her litter box every time.
She has been spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed and flea treated.
Her story..........................................
She had been living with another very friendly kitty behind a pizza place in a high traffic area. It was really dangerous there. I think she may have been dumped there or left outside a nearby apartment complex when the owner moved.
I brought her to the Humane Society to get her surgery and to my surprise was told that she'd already been previously spayed but she had no micro-chip. So I had her vaccinated, flea treated and de-wormed. She was also ear tipped but just as beautiful as ever.
Since she was already spayed and super friendly that told me at some point in her short life she'd been someone's pet and had lived indoors. So I decided to take her home to see how she'd do in my house. She perked right up and I could tell right away that she was so grateful that she'd been rescued from the streets. I just did not have the heart to re-release her back to living a "feral" life.
About her personality................
No sooner then your butt can hit the couch or a chair she races to jump in your lap. She LOVES attention and loves getting pet and held. She is a total LAP KITTY!!
When going to bed you hardly even have a chance to turn off the light and she's on top of you trying to snuggle.
She's a little talker too:) She LOVES to eat and is relieved that now she doesn't have to forage for food any longer. She really likes wet food A LOT!!
She DEMANDS attention. She is also a total WOMAN................. meaning her attitude changes in an instant. She will love you one second and then swat at you for no apparent reason:) It's easy to tell when it's coming on by just getting to know her.
You really have to like that type of a "needy kitty" in order to adopt her. She does NOT like to share attention so she should be the ONLY CAT.
I think her "catitude" is funny. She will get mad at me if I stop petting her and grab my hand. To some that behavior may NOT be funny. I understand her so it's funny to me. She can be a little aggressive if she gets mad. Just like a woman:)
She many end up scratching by mistake. It's like she gets overly stimulated when being paid attention to and she just loses her mind temporarily. She may need some correction at times.
So, again....... whoever adopts her has to LOVE a cat with CATITUDE aka Bi-Polar Kitty Syndrome:)
I'm not totally sure why she does this but one thing I can say is that she is an ABSOLUTE LOVER!! So, it's "bad" GOOD behavior:)
She will follow her human around like a little dog. She LOVES tuna fish and chicken!!
She was friendly enough with the other rescue kitties in my home but they would get mad at her for not sharing "HER HUMAN." This can cause jealousy in certain cats. So, I really feel that she'd do best as an "ONLY CAT" or in a home with a mellow dog. I don't think it would be fair to another cat if they too couldn't get attention.
She wants to be a PRINCESS and wants to be SPOILED ROTTEN.
She's great with all people but probably wouldn't like to be chased or carried around by a young child. She would do best in a non-chaotic home.
All she requires is a nice, safe place to live and a family to love and protect her. She hates it outdoors!
She's FREE to the right home with certain requirements.......... Here's what's required to adopt her.................................
I ask a lot of adoption questions, not to get in your business but to make sure that she gets into the right home and is a good fit for you and your family. I also do home visits. It's quick and easy. It's just to see if your home is appropriate for her, not to see if you have dishes in your sink:) No pressure:)
You must promise to keep her as an INDOOR kitty only. If she got outside she would get lost or seriously hurt not to mention that she HATES it outside now that she's away from danger and safe and sound in a home. Also..... statistics tell us that an outdoor cat has an average lifespan of only about 2-3 years whereas an indoor cat has an average lifespan of about 14-15 years. Reason enough!!
You must be able to afford to care for her needs, food, treats, toys, litter and vet care as needed
You must promise to NOT de-claw her. If you desire a de-clawed cat there are some already out there looking for homes. De-clawing is not a nice thing to do to a cat. 50% of cats that are declawed start to have some behavior issues including but not limited to NOT using the litter box!! A scratching post can be just as effective without causing the cat stress and anxiety.
You must promise to give her at the very least ONE FULL MONTH (30 days) to get adjusted in your home. If you CANNOT promise to give her the FULL 30 DAYS required then please DO NOT respond to this post. It can take some cats longer than others to adjust and they ALL deserve the necessary time it takes to do that.
However, if after the FULL 30 DAYS you decide for one reason or another that she is just not a good fit for you and your family I will take her back without question. We want all involved to be happy with the living arrangements, the cat and the humans:)
**ALL of our cats and kittens live in foster homes and have been socialized and worked with just like they are part of a family. They are not left in a cage/crate but LOVED and handled.
Please CALL ME for more information or to set up an appointment to meet this beautiful kitty.
Thanks,
