Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE 8/28/09: We are baby sitting Cherry while her foster family is away. We have noted some behavior in her that is just fun! There are many sides to Cherry's personality:
WILD CHERRY - this is the dog that lets us know if there are any deer in the neighborhood. She will run outside fast as a bullet. She stares at them and barks to let us know! She doesn't care about squirrels, raccoons or any other critter, though. Wild Cherry can also play non-stop with our young foster, Mackenzie They romp and run together like they are the same age. When I walk them together, she is good on her leash (and potties nicely) but, she has plenty of energy for a good walk.
MILD CHERRY - this is the dog that, after play, zones out in one (or drapes over two) dog bed(s). She is also excellent in a crate. I never hear a peep out of her, when crated. She keeps her crate clean during a work day. She doesn't destroy the crate pad. And, when I come home, she waits quietly to be let out of the crate - and then runs outside to potty and be "Wild Cherry" for a while.
CHERRY PIE - this is the affectionate dog who loves to be invited onto the couch for belly rubs. She also loves to come up to you for pets, and (if invited) to rise up gently to put her front paws on your thigh and stretch against you for lots of pets.
We think Cherry will make a very devoted and fun pet for someone. PS, while we invited her to sleep on our bed, she prefers sleeping in a doggy bed.
1/12/09 : Cherry is the snuggliest, sweetest girl in the world. She now enjoys her walks on her leash (not as much as her afternoon snoozes!!), and will go potty on the leash too. She has just started to go to the back door to ask to go outside for potty, although she still has the VERY occasional accident in the house. She loves kisses and cuddles. The only time we really hear her bark is outside, if people walk by the yard. She also doesn’t like strangers coming into the house – she is protecting us in the best possible way I think!! All in all she will make a loving companion for someone looking for a gentle, low key, affectionate beagle.
Update 10/15/08: Cherry has settled into her foster home with contented happiness. She loves everyone, and everything. A cheerful little beagle, she alternates between lap cuddles, tummy tickles, and the warmest, cosiest spot of the house, wherever that might be. She gets very excited to see you and makes squeals of delight when you come back from even a brief time away. She shows her affection with kisses, and by snuggling up to you. She keeps her crate perfectly clean, and is doing her best to learn housebreaking rules, so does not have a routine yet. She is quiet in the house generally, but if she can see out of the window she will boldy shout at any other dogs passing by! Does great with kids, quite simply a little sweetheart.
Update (7/1): Cherry has been in my house for over week now and has done very well, she's quiet in her crate, keeps it clean all day and at night. She is very sweet, friendly and gets along well with others dogs. She was a stray at the Culpeper Animal Shelter so her history is unknown.
Cherry, 7 year old female that is fairly small. She appears to be crate trained, she is quiet in her crate and keeps it clean all day and during the night. She is friendly but quiet and reserved. It is also possible that she was already spayed and was probably someone’s pet but she was a stray at the Culpeper Animal Shelter so her history is unknown.
