Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lily (formerly known as Marsha) is fostered in McFarland Wisconsin, 53558 through United Yorkie Rescue.
To find out more about Lily contact her foster momma: shellylampe@hotmail.com
Marsha is approx.. 7 years old and 6.5 lbs., her foster momma started calling her Lily and it just kind of stuck. I’m approx. Lily didn't have a very good life before coming to United Yorkie Rescue in June 2015. Lily lived in a small dirty wire box at a Puppy Mill, used as a breading machine, so her age isn’t exactly known. After coming to United Yorkie Rescue, she was given a thorough check, spayed, teeth cleaned, micro chipped, and she had an eye infection that required medicating and diagnosed with an ulcer, which is being monitored. She had a seizure during a bath and another one shortly after so her foster momma got her back in to the vendor where they ran tests, and everything came out perfect, just overly stressed from all the changes over that timeframe of transition.
Lily loves people, however she needs slow and patient delivery of love as sudden movements make her scared. She has behaviors like most Puppy Mill dogs: she’s not used to sudden movement, noise or commotion, so she startles easily, cowers and will hide if possible. Although she’s afraid, she would rather sit on your lap and get attention than to cower in her cage. When Lily first arrived, it was very easy to see that she spent years in a wire cage. Her pads have chronic irritation and because she was so badly matted, she had to be shaved so initially she was cold and wore a sweater. Lily’s working on potty training and learning about acceptance of good touches and love (as not being scary or hurtful like they used to be). Not having exposure to toys, being a puppy or learning to play like a dog she’s best as a lap warmer and snuggler. Lily will need an understanding home willing to work on these things with her as it will take time, sometimes several months for puppy mill dogs to learn. Watching them come out of their shells, learn to trust, accept and WANT love is very rewarding.
