Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Linus was found as a stray in Miami. We are still in the initial stages of evaluating this goofy boy, but it is clear that he has had a rough life at his young age. He was most likely tied outdoors all of his life without much attention or affection. He has horrible calluses on all his pressure points and has red, inflamed skin and missing hair on his back and tail. His ears have also been cropped, possibly for cosmetic or dogfighting reasons.
Linus is a neutered male, but only recently so. He is still prone to marking and humping. He seems to be a young boy with lots of energy, and is a bit of a clumsy goofball.
Unfortunately, a full vet work-up has diagnosed Linus with Stage 3 heartworm, in addition to being positive for hookworms and having a bacterial infection on his skin.
Linus just began his heartworm treatment which is long, expensive and risky. The arsenic based treatment is toxic and Linus may not survive it. We need to keep this young energetic bullie as calm and quiet as possible for 3 months - not an easy feat, but we are going to do our best for Linus!
