And now a few words from me:
Hi, my name is Jackson and my agent thinks that I should be cast as the next ‘Bachelor’ because I am tall, dark, and handsome (well...everything except for the 'tall” part). I’m a five-year old black and tan dachshund that is extremely well mannered (I promise not to chew your shoes or furniture), and with a personality that is even better than my looks (not sure how that is even possible!).
I’m very social and I love being doted on by my humans. Cuddles and belly rubs are the best, and I’ll happily give you kisses if you’ll let me. I especially love my humans when they’re eating cheese, turkey, or peanut butter. When I’m really happy my tail wags so enthusiastically, it has earned me the nickname ‘Thumper’. That being said, I’m very gentle with everyone I meet, including other dogs, cats, and kids.
I had a problem with my back called IVDD, and was left on the streets for Animal Control to find because my humans did not want to spend the money to help me get better. Animal Control called the great people at CDRO and they came to my rescue and gave me a second chance by providing me with the surgery that I needed to get better.
Now I’m ready to find my forever home. I would be fine in a home with kids (preferably a bit older so they are respectful of my back) and I would be happy to have another canine companion (but I am also fine being the only fur child!). I promise to be the best dog that I can be, and to give you unconditional love forever. Will you accept my final rose?
And now a few words from my foster family:
Jackson is an awesome dog! He is very trustworthy, loving, friendly, and beyond cute. He has been through a lot recently, but from the moment he entered our care, he has been nothing but loving and friendly. He is house trained when kept on a schedule. Sometimes he pees a bit prior to a walk (this happens infrequently and is most likely due to excitement, although it may also be the result of his IVDD surgery). Overall he is very well behaved! Jackson is a typical doxie that absolutely hates the rain (and most likely snow!). He is very social and would be fine in a home with older kids, cats (he was fine with the one at the vet), and dogs… any home that will give him lots of love and attention. He really enjoys his walks in the park and does well on a leash. Looking at him you wouldn't be able to tell that he had IVDD surgery just a few weeks ago. He’s a resilient, happy little guy with so much love to give!
