Hi, I’m Ben – a 1 year old, dapple doxie boy with one blue eye! I’m small standard sized, approximately 14.5 lbs of pure gorgeousness! My foster mom says I am scheduled for neutering on Friday, whatever that means, and then I will be ready to find a nice family of my own!

I came into rescue with my friend Jerry after being surrendered to CDR by someone who used us only for breeding purposes. As a result, I have little experience at being a dog. I’m shy and timid and I am not a fan of loud noises or voices. I do however love to be outside and as I am learning to walk on a leash, hikes are becoming my new favourite thing! I love comfy couches, soft bed or even baskets full of laundry to curl up for a good snooze! Due to my past, I would prefer you don’t crate me as I am terrified of confined spaces. Don’t worry, I make a really great snuggle buddy and promise to keep you warm all night long. I love human attention and affection and promise to always greet you with a wagging tail. I really enjoy the company of other dogs – they are fun playmates! And chew toys are fun too! Do you have room in your home and your heart for a sweet fella like me? I would love to have a family of my own for Christmas!

Gentle Ben is very shy and timid and will need continual work on confidence building. This poor guy has had a rough start to life and is looking for some good ol’ fashion TLC. Housetraining is a work in progress but I would strongly suggest avoiding the crate with Ben unless you are really committed to working positively with it. Ben knows his names and some basic commands – he is young and eager to please! Ben enjoys the company of other dogs but would do best in a home without cats. If you have the time and patience to work with sweet Ben I can promise you he will make a wonderful companion and is totally worth it! Please consider showing Ben what being a family pet is all about!
