Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Updated Bio 9-27-2015 Gabe is a 7.5 year old, 16 pound Yorkie Poo (Yorkie-poodle mix) male being fostered in Ashland City, TN.
Hello! Gabe here! I am really enjoying my stay with my foster family. They have been taking good care of me and I have some really fun fur-siblings to play with. I had to go to the Dogtor for a check-up this week. I was very nervous because I do not like Dogtors (or groomers) because they poke things in me and invade by personal space a bit too much for my liking! This was a lady Dogtor and I growled at her but she saw right through me “tough guy” demeanor and I ended up getting a TREAT anyway! Don’t you just love it when you get to misbehave and still get a REWARD!!!! PAWSOME! I am EXCEPTIONAL in that I came in to UYR fully healthy and now I am up to date on my shots, micro-chipped and ready to start my search for my new forever home.
I was a bit shy when I landed in my foster home and I tried by “TOUGH GUY” thing with Foster Mom there by guarding my bed and growling at anyone who came near it! Well, I couldn’t fake her out……cuz like she told me “Gabe…..This isn’t my FIRST RODEO little fella and that behavior does NOT FLY here!” She took my bed away from me! But….she lets me have it back when I’m good so I’m starting to learn that “Good Gabe” = “I get what I want” and “Naughty Gabe” = “No Bed and No Treats.” I didn’t really have that before I came to Foster Mom’s so I pushed my limits. So I guess I’m am “unlearning” some ungentlemanly habits and I’m doing a good job and making progress every day!
So here’ something I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I AM SUPER PAWSOME AT: I am house trained really well because I haven't had even one accident in the house. That’s right folks, not even ONE accident! I love meal time too……Maybe a little too much! I eat twice a day, but out of a Kong because otherwise I eat way way too fast! I enjoy going for walks and my favorite game is tug of war. I can even entertain myself with toys when no one wants to play with me.
The perfect family for me would be one who wants to shower me with lots of love and attention and who also is willing to be patient with me so that I can continue to stay on my best behavior. Please no small children under 12. I still need help learning to share my toys and I still LOVE LOVE LOVE my bed and want to guard it so Foster Mom only let's me have it when I am good. I get to sleep with her in the bed at night so I don't miss it much. I really need someone who can be a STRONG PACK LEADER and give me the direction and boundaries that I need to be my bestest self! I hope to find my forever home soon. Do you have room in your heart for me??
Love Gabe
Initial Bio 9/20/2015 Meet UYR’s newest boy Gabe! Gabe is an adorable 7.5 year old, 12 lb Yorkie Poo (Yorkie-Poodle Mix) being fostered in Ashland City TN.
Gabe comes to UYR from a family who felt they were not really able to meet his needs well so they reached out to UYR for help in finding Gabe his perfect forever home. Gabe was in a home where the owner takes care of her 1.5 year old grandchild. This was not a good situation for Gabe as the child got a little too rambunctious with him and Gabe snapped at him. He did not bite the child but small children and small dogs often are not a good mix. Gabe has become a bit guarded and anxious as a result and the family finally decided that Gabe has had enough and needs a different environment. Gabe appears to be in good health and just needs his vaccinations updated and a well-doggie check and he should be ready to be adopted very soon. He has JUST LANDED in his foster home so please stay tuned as we get to know him better.
