Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Freckles has a very sad past and we will stop at nothing to make sure she gets the happy ending she deserves. She was found by a passer-by on Five Mile Road (a very rural area) tied to a tree and left to die. She was brought to us, where we set up a manhunt to find the person that did it to her. Thanks to social media and a spot on the KCBY News, we found the person who did it and they were handed over to the police. You can see the story here: http://www.kcby.com/news/local/Starving-2-year-old-Pit-bull-tied-to-tree-saved-by-woman-passing-by-304773561.html She was immediately adopted by a very excited family, but they had small dogs, and Freckles' prey drive kicked in. No one was hurt, but the owner couldn't live peacefully with the small dogs being afraid. She also mentioned that Freckles didn't do well with small children. This is also likely from her prey drive. While we must trust the person who returned her, we believe that children of all ages must be taught to treat dogs respectfully. Freckles is very, very friendly and loves everyone she meets, so we are not restricting families with kids from adopting her. With exercise and discipline, she will be an amazing family member to all ages. Families with cats and small dogs are cautioned, though. On to her wonderful personality: She is an angel. Really. She loves other dogs, loves people, loves to play, and loves to explore. She goes on pack walks with other shelter dogs and does excellent off-leash. She can be goofy when she's excited, and is generally happy to be alive. She is high energy, but not in a crazy way. She is so sweet and can be adorably shy. It's hard to look into her gorgeous eyes and not fall in love. She has one neon blue and one brown eye. She is young, about a year or two old. She would love some strong leadership from an experienced dog owner. She needs to be put in line when she gets too excited. - good with other dogs - high energy - shouldn't be paired with cats or small dogs We found out that her name from her previous owners was 'Nani'. We had already named her 'Freckles' by then, and she was on the news as 'Freckles'. So we use those two names interchangeably. Her forever family can, of course, name her whatever they want. Another video of Nani and her friend Riga, another girl available at our shelter: https://youtu.be/Xav3qyE4vEI If you can give her the happy ending she deserves, call 541.271.2100 to meet her.
