Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Being handsome, intelligent, loving and playful, Simba is a stunning one year old, 60 pound, male Golden Retriever German Sheppard mix, has so many great qualities that his care takers here at the kennel adore. He gets along well with their other dogs, walks well on leash, he is a gentleman in a familiar house setting, is house and crate trained and sits, stays, rolls, crawls, has a decent recall and boundless energy.
However, this young fellow also has some challenges ahead. He is devoted to the persons with whom Simba develops a relationship but fearful and unsure with others, he tends to bark when strangers approach him, Simba is also sensitive to touch from anyone other than people he knows, he is never bitten anyone but will nip if strangers attempt to touch him.
Properly introduced he will accept touch. The best way to accomplish this it to allow Simba to approach the person and let him sniff and smell the person and after 30 seconds to a minute the person can pet him.
Clearly, this special guy needs to find just the right fosters or adopters that want to take the time to come to the kennel where he lives, get properly introduced, develop a relationship before fostering or adopting him and help Simba learn how safe the world really is. Come met him and you can see just how loving Simba can be with whom he knows. With training and care, Simba will claim the mature confidence of a well-rounded dog.
