My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cabella is a wonderful young pup. He is a 4.5-5.5 month old Labrador Retriever mix, though we can only guess on mix and suspect hound his other main breed. He doesn’t sound like a hound and rarely makes sound at all. He is good with other dogs, especially those that play. He is only mildly interested in a cat. He is gentle on leash and children have taken him for walks around the block with ease and success.
He is very well crate trained. He sleeps silently in his crate at night in our downstairs. The only time he makes any unwelcome noise is when he sees us leave, but as soon we round the corner of our sidewalk (we’ve peeked) he lays down and waits for our return. He’s often so deep in puppy sleep that when we come back in the door he’s startled awake but us pressing our door lock codes. He does not chew his kennel blankets or toys to pieces, he will play with toys and bones in kennel but no destructive behavior. If he has to go potty in kennel he starts with a low whine but will move to a bark if you don’t hear him. He has never had an in house or in kennel accident in foster. He is fairly quick to do his potties outside and is proud when he gets the praise for being good boy.
He knows how to sit on command but is learning other basics like “off” and “down” because he does jump up for attention on greeting. He does have a retrieve instinct and will fetch anything you throw and bring it back to you – he’s learning to “drop it” but doesn’t always want to. Nothing is funnier than throwing 3 toys to one spot and watching him try to get three is his mouth to bring back to you; he’s quite the thinker though as he almost always figures out how to do it.
He’s hard to photograph as when he is out of kennel or outdoors with people, he prefers to lay or be right near his people. Crouching down to take his picture often stops him from whatever he is doing and gets him heading in your direction. He loves lap snuggles and is glad to get any booty scratching or belly rubbing you’re willing to offer.
If you are interested in meeting Cabella, please visit www.3clr.org and review our adoption process. Submit and online application if you wish. His adoption fee is $350.00. He is up to date on vaccinations, has been dewormed, is on heartworm prevention and will be microchipped and neutered before adoption.
He is fostered in New Boston, MI. Adopters must be willing to drive to a meet and greet (if invited after application submission). Home visits are done prior to any adoption taking place.
