My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sophie is pretty, senior silvery beagle. She gets along with everyone, two-footed and four-footed... adults, children, cats and dogs, they are all her friends. Her former foster mom says that Sophie is one of the sweetest dogs she and her family have ever fostered, a great companion, gentle, quiet, eager to please, a little ball of love, a dog with plenty of personality.

Sophie can be defensive sometimes, as some shelter dogs are. She may have been abused in her former life. If she is approached too quickly or suddenly, she cowers or yelps and can even turn to nip. But she will always respond to love. With time, she will learn to trust fully and not display that defensive reaction.

Sophie is also a cancer survivor. She had tumors removed from her side and will need to take two small tablets of hydroxyzine daily. The cost of her medication is about $12 per month. Though she is currently tumor-free, her adopters will need to look out for new tumors while brushing and petting her.

Sophie is approximately 25 to 30 pounds, is housebroken, leash-trained, spayed and tested negative for heart worm/lyme.
