Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! Am I cute or am I cute?
I am Chris! Guess why I am called Chris? Because of my chest…it’s a cross. Momma says I am a blessed dog… I am a 6-8 month old lab/border collie/shepherd mix (mom hasn’t decided what!)… and I am the cutest thing in the world. I have one ear up, one down. I am now 32 pounds….but I will grow I think. I love dogs like crazy, and love mom and dad. I love walks, food, playing playing playing. My bestie is Apollo—we play, chase and wrestle all day long. I love him. I am VERY VERY playful.
So what’s my story? I was found as a stray outside Houston TX at a high kill shelter as a 3 month old puppy in June and I had a kennel mate. I waited and waited for months for someone to fall in love with me and take me home. Nope, no takers. You see, there are 1.2 million stray dogs in Houston, and being black, I had NO chance. Its called Black Dog Syndrome, and black dogs get put down first. I was scared. I saw all my black friends go to the “back room” and never come out. Momma whispered its “euthanasia”….
My luck changed when I soon became the staff favorite. They didn’t want to put me down as I had a cross on my chest. So they called me Father Chris and didn’t put me down.
I love my foster momma and daddy. There are 3 other puppies here and we play play play all day long. It’s a toot here. But I really want to find my own parents. I dream of parents who will take me on adventures to trails, car rides and make them sleep in their room. And sit by the fireplace on cold days. Can you be that one for me? Mom says that she will find me a home up North or Canada where people like black dogs and treat their dogs like family.
My adoption fee is $475 and that includes my neuter, all shots, deworming, microchip, health certificate, crate and plane ticket to anywhere in the US..
Thank you for listening to my story.
