Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Lola is currently living in Houston and is available for out-of-town adoption.**
Lola had a rough beginning to her life and when she joined Reggie’s Friends, she was nearly bald from a very preventable skin condition. She was neglected long enough for the damage to her skin to still affect her coat nearly a year after her rescue, but it continues to fill back in. Lola may not be the stereotypical beauty queen on the outside, but once you meet this girl and get to know her stunning personality, her thin coat won’t matter even one ounce. Considering her past, you will not find a more appreciative, affectionate and playful girl out there. We love her willingness to learn and despite a cruel existence prior to joining us, she is a huge lover of all things.
This amazingly resilient girl is about 2.5 years old and is a Boxer and Terrier mix with quite possibly a number of other bits in her perfect combination too. She is right at 50 pounds and without a doubt she doesn’t miss a meal. She has a short, stocky build, but this girl can wiggle her body better than any skinny dog we know. She is the happiest and sweetest girl and we are so happy to now get to help her find her new family.
Lola’s BEST quality is that she loves children. One of her best friends is a 6 year old boy who adores everything about her. They laugh, giggle and wiggle together and it’s a lovely sight to see such love in both of their eyes. She wants human siblings and would light up their lives because they would be her whole world. Lola can be a bit picky about her dog friends at first, but with slower than normal introductions, she has always warmed up to every dog she meets.
Looking at Lola and her thin coat and noticeably nicked tongue, we can only imagine what our girl had to survive through. We are hoping that she can forget all of the bad times of her past because we know that she’s ready to start her new life with her beloved new family as soon as possible.
Let’s talk about all of Lola’s great attributes first. She is amazing on her leash and doesn’t pull while walking. She has learned to sit and come on command. She is totally housebroken now too. She is great in her kennel and is a quiet dog until you have food around. Remember…this girl likes to eat and it’s her second favorite time of the day…the first is with her little buddy. She’s been in a house setting for several weeks now and is not destructive at all. She can be a bit stubborn when she wants to be in a room with her people or when she sees treats not intended for her, but she is in training for that. She is very easily corrected by her trainer when she slips up and she learns from those moments as well.
She adores all people and lives for meals, rawhides and treats. Despite her love for a snack, she takes them very gently out of hands and is thankful for the yummies. Some of her friends say that she is a “tub of happy” and that the only thing at risk around this chick is a cupcake. She absolutely loves to run around the play yard sniffing everything and taking it all in. She also enjoys leash walks and would make a fantastic walking companion. Her wiggles are the cutest thing you will ever see and it warms our hearts to no end to know that she is happy. Another must on Lola’s list of fun are belly rubs. This belly is the perfect one for rubbing too because it’s nice and round! She will roll over on her back in a second if she sees one coming.
Lola is extremely adaptable and will fit into any family dynamic very easily. She loves the kiddos in her life, but it’s not necessary for her to have one in her immediate family if she can visit with a neighbor or a grandkid often. She just really needs a family that will dote on her and show her the attention that she lacked for so long. She will reward her new family with constant wiggles, tail wags and most importantly little kisses. She’s such a delight to have around!
Lola is a physically hardy, sturdy and healthy little dog with a very sweet, fun loving and playful personality. She LOVES life, people, children and food. She will make any family a wonderful pet. Commonly in Houston, our rescues are heartworm positive due to lack of care. Lola was positive upon her rescue and has been going through treatment for 8 months. She is nearing the end of her treatment, but all medications needed for heartworm treatment are provided to her new owner at no charge as part of her adoption. She is already spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and full of life and love!
Lola is available for adoption and her adoption fee is $250. Although at first glance you may not see the typical beauty in this girl, you will see it and know her charm within minutes of meeting her. Please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org to visit with our lovable Lola.
