Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Herbie Update and request for "permanent foster" and sponsorship/donations! (news from vet not great but with the right care, he could still have a couple of years of quality life)
I never really stood a chance when the dog attacked me.
I lived in a home once with some people who put a collar on me. But they tossed me out before I had even finished growing, so later a kind man had to cut the collar out of my neck. After he saved me from strangling, he started feeding me. But he had no money to get me to a vet for a neuter or vaccinations.
Without a neuter, I fought and mated a lot and contracted FIV, a virus that reduced immune function- it impacts indoor cats minimally, but because outdoor cats are exposed to more sources of infection, FIV causes serious complications for them. After the dog attacked me, things just went from bad to worse until I had pockets of maggots bubbling in my infected wounds.
I got weaker and weaker, and the nice man who was feeding me reached out for help. Some people who spay and neuter cats lent him a trap and made me an appointment to be neutered at a clinic. But when they saw me there, the staff started calling around for rescue, saying I was beyond what they could help with. If nobody came to help me by 4 PM, they were going to "put me to sleep."
I am happy the Pound Pals Cat-Aid people came to get me. They took me to Dr. King and she helped me. She managed to help me survive, but she found out I have kidney disease and a Grade 2 Heart Murmur.
Out of the thousands of city cats in trouble, I am one of the lucky ones. I know I have medical problems, but now I have medication, proper food, and a foster mama lap. I know love again. I love to sit in laps, and I have a very loud purr that foster mama says is music for the soul!
The donations of Pound Pals supporters are funding my care; without them, I simply wouldn’t have made it.
Please think of me and the the many other street cats that are in urgent need of medical treatment. You are my and their only hope. There is absolutely nobody else.
The difference between life and death for us is just a few dollars. Foster mama says that now that I have been diagnosed with kidney disease, I may not ever be adopted. But she and Cat-Aid are going to take care of me, and you can help by sponsoring me.

And if you would like to be my "permanent" foster, please contact Susan at (314) 478-4502 or susanfbauer@gmail.com. To be my permanent/hospice foster, you need to be able to learn to give me daily SQ fluids and commit to my kidney treatment plan-- Cat-Aid will buy the medications, supplies and food.
