Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Libby is a brand new puppy to our rescue. We think she is approximately 7-8 weeks old and her breed is a little unknown (she has the face and fur of a Shiba Inu, but is definitely not purebred. She weighs 6 lbs. She has a dense brown/black coat with an gray undercoat. Her little tail curls over her back and her feet are white with sprinkles of black. Her mom is a small tan dog of about 20 lbs. Libby may grow to be 20-30 lbs according to the puppy growth chart, but these are all estimates as we don’t know exactly when she was born nor do we know who dad is. She came to us with her mom who is also up for adoption. The two were found in an abandoned barn. No other puppies were found except Libby. One thing is for sure; Libby already has “street smarts” she learned from her mommy. At first she was a tiny bit fearful of humans and rolled to her back when approached, but now that she has integrated into another litter of puppies that are a month older than Libby, she is thriving. She fits right in with the “big kids” and holds her own in their make believe wrestling battles. She doesn’t let the other puppies boss her around. One of Libby’s favorite things at her foster mom’s is going to visit the “old wise one”. She runs to the 14 year-old German Shepherd to kiss his face and be near him. He lets her and she just loves it because she knows he is wise and strong and she feels safe with him. Libby will chase a ball and is working on crate and potty training. We approximate her age to be around 7-8 weeks, so potty training has just begun and it will take her a few weeks to get the hang of it, but she is very smart, and with careful watching for the signs, and taking her outside and praising her, she’ll catch on in no time. Libby has only ever known being with either her mommy or with her new siblings in foster care. She’s also been socialized with other dogs from as small as a 4 lb Yorkie to an 80 lb Lab. She has no fear of wandering into the woods without a buddy to explore all of the wonderful smells on the ground.
