Hi! My name is Konga.

I am a 3.5 yrs old, male, blue-brindled half Great Dane/half English Mastiff.

Until recently, I and my sibling were never indoor dogs. We were kept in a garage.

My sibling and I were scared when we were surrendered and even more scared when we were separated. In spite of being scared, something wonderful happened. I became an indoor dog! Since that day, I’m much happier being an indoor dog and not wanting much to do with the outdoors (except going potty).

I LOVE my foster canine brother! He’s been teaching me so many neat stuff like play, eating food from a bowl, being loved and petted, etc.
I often shadow my foster canine buddy! So, that makes it a high priority for me to have in a forever home. If you have a submissive (non-aggressive, non-alpha) dog, I’d LOVE to be his/her sibling!

I am naturally shy but I do warm up in short time. I’ve been with my foster family for ten days and I’m no longer shy with them! They have shown love and patience. These are what helped me gain confident with them.

I hadn’t had any experiences with children since I was under a year old.
Recently, I learned that I really, really like kids! Since surrendered, I’ve been introduced to children of all ages and got along with them. I prefer female children. Granted, fast and active boys makes me nervous and shy. But, I do like boys who are sympathetic, patience and, intuitive. I do need to have at least one female child in the house because I learn so much from kids.

I like adults. I like to be their shadow, just like I like to shadow kids. I have no favorite person so that makes me a family dog. However, I do feel compelled to shadow another family dog. I do not do well as an only canine pet.

I haven’t shown any prey drive. I’ve met cats, one of which touched and rubbed me at the vet’s office. I was shocked and curious. My foster momma’s glad to see that I showed no negative reaction and I showed respect towards the cat.

Recently, I’ve just started learning to play with my foster canine buddy. That was fun! We’ve played a few times since.

I haven’t played with toys. I don’t know what to do with them. My foster momma is hoping that I’ll soon learn how to play with a ball or chew antlers.
I don’t even take treats. Maybe I’ll take treats from you?

I am not crate-trained. If I’m forced into the crate, I get scared and feel the urge to vomit. My foster momma recognized that my desire to be with my canine buddy is too strong to be separated. I’ve proven multiple times that I am trusted in the house (free-rein) while they go out on errands. I do not damage any furnitures, flooring, walls, etc. I am a nice and respectful boy.

There is a small possibility that I might mark my territory in my new home. If that happens, I will stop if you catch me in the act and never mark my territory indoor again. I do NOT want to disappoint you or make you mad at me.

I am a very sensitive boy and I wear my heart on my sleeve.

I am also very laid back and extremely submissive.

My foster momma wants me to give you a summary about me:

He craves attention but will leave you alone if you tell him so
He often grooms our Great Dane, like a momma would groom her puppy
He is not afraid to ask for attention or affection
He is cautious of men, but is willing to associate with them
Unless he’s nervous or upset, he hardly drools
He is not a jumper nor stands on his hind legs
He likes to lean, sometimes a little firm. However, he leans softly on younger children.
He’s a little nervous during walks and is improving over time
He likes to “sit” on your lap while you sitting on the sofa
He does not counter-surf
He has good manners during family meals
He often begs for forgiveness if he thought you’re disappointed or mad at him
He becomes very nervous towards alpha or aggressive dogs
He likes to be groomed, especially by kids.
He needs basic training. He knows his recall, “no!”, “uh-uh”, “back”, “come”, “walk”, “Konga”
He’s not crazy about car rides however, he’ll be less stressed if his canine buddy rides with him
He’ll (nervously) tolerates shower for bath
He tolerates and is friendly with veterinarian
He’s open to sleeping (overnight) anywhere as long as his canine buddy is in the same room
