Here's what the humans have to say about me:
From Ike's finder: This is Ike. He's a smashing 93 lb male black lab. He is neutered, heart worm negative and simply a wonderful guy. He's about 12 months old, I've had him 1 month. He was chained up the road from me since he was a pup and then turned loose. I brought him back to the house and the people denied ever owning a big black dog. I've been working with him in my home and he is doing quite well. He understands sit and down and is well behaved while inside. He's been the new guy with my motley pack of 5 dogs, no easy task. I have a 15 year old female chow who is snappy and just plain mean and possibly the most bossy dominate border collie 'Cranky Hankie' that ever lived! Ike takes everything in stride, never gets upset and is always ready to play and love everyone. He listens well and wants to please, he has all the good lab personality traits. Most labs I have had chewed and dug holes, but not Ike. He hasn't destroyed anything ever and genuinely seems grateful to be loved and cared for. Must be his time on a chain that makes him so eager to please and so happy to be a real family member. I am amazed by him and think he has endless potential. I would love to keep him, but I care for my elderly father, he lives with us, and 6 dogs plus his large size makes for a substantial trip/fall hazard. He plays super well with his main buddy, LC, she is a black lab pit and he waits for her every morning to be let out of her kennel. He also displays such patience with my 2 old mean dogs, and such loyalty to my family. This guy is a great fellow. I think if he ends up with a disabled vet or an adoptive family or in a group setting he will be happy. I think he is a star and will excel in any of these environments. Applications can be submitted at blackdogsandcompanyrescue.org. The adoption fee of $300 includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. Home visit and references required.November 3, 2024, 11:03 am
