My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maddie - Boston Terrier Mix - 6 years old - weighs 28 pounds. Being fostered in Penticton, B.C.

Her startling whiteness is what first attracts you. Her endearing personality is what holds you. A uniquely featured blend of Boston and Jack Russell makes Maddie doubly bright, doubly curious, and doubly playful. To the delight of her foster mom, once the trim 28-pound, 6-year-old was politely and properly introduced to the three Boston terriers already in residence, she soon became part of the pack. A high-energy miss, that energy is easily drained when she vigorously chases her favourite ball or goes on long, brisk walks. In fact, Maddie would make someone equally energetic an ideal hiking companion.Eager to learn and easy to teach, she walks well on leash, has excellent recall, knows “sit” and “shake a paw”, and is working on “down, stay.” When tired, she loves nothing more than to cuddle, and has earned the title, “queen of sneak kiss attacks.”
Like most females, Maddie enjoys looking her best, and doesn’t mind being groomed and brushed or having her ears cleaned and her nails clipped. She is good in the car, both in her harness or in the back seat, and is both crate and housetrained. Due to her excitable nature, she can be jumpy prior to walking and feeding times, but under her foster mom’s calm direction, she’s been improving steadily each day. Being highly food motivated, she tends to gulp her food, and would gladly steal from her foster brothers’ bowls if not for her foster mom’s strictness and eagle eye. On walks, she has barked at dogs she passes or at people in the distance, but again her foster mom has been quick to change her focus. Then, when she meets new people, she gets along well with them. Apprehensive when her foster mom first leaves the room, Maddie will whine for a moment, then quiet down, and being a random barker, will bark when her foster sibs do.
As full of love as she is of potential, what Maddie needs now is a home without small children or cats (but perhaps a balanced male dog), with a firm, patient and experienced adopter, who has the love and the time to help Maddie realize that potential.
