My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAY, THE DOGO WITH DAVID BOWIE EYESJay is a bashful young Dogo Argentino mix with beautiful parti-colored eyes and one black ear. He is a bigger fella, around 70lbs, and has been in foster in New York City for the past year. Jay is very athletic, good with older kids, and loves to run and play fetch! At 2 years old, Jay is a young guy with a big long life ahead of him to spend with you. He is neutered, house trained has basic obedience, and is very healthy. Jay is shy so he’s not a fan of situations where a lot of new things are thrown at him at once. So a crowded dog park or a busy home where there are always tons of people coming and going wouldn't really be his scene. Jay is a great cuddler and thinks he is a lapdog, so if you need a buddy for sports watching or guilty-pleasure reality TV nights, he's your guy! He is slow to get used to other dogs but if you are patient with him and keep the introductions slow, he will be their best buddy in a couple weeks. His play skills with other dogs are excellent. Jay's perfect person or family would have no other dogs or at most one other mellow large dog, have no kids or older kids, would love to go for walks or runs or be outdoors, and have a fairly quiet home.Jay has made it through occasional big family events like a 15-person Thanksgiving dinner with aplomb, and his current foster has friends over a fair amount (and Jay rolls over for belly rubs on the sofa with them), but he'd prefer no noisy dance parties, thank you! If you want a really handsome best friend, who will make you feel like the most wonderful and adored human on the planet, then consider this big gorgeous hunk of love! One of Jay’s friends had this to say about him:“I found jay to be extremely engaging and tuned in once he felt safe. With merely a glance or expression he would respond with excitement and cooperation. He’s a wonderful guy who will thrive with a loving companion. “Jays first foster (seven months), Christine and her husband, two daughters and 3 dogs helped him learn that coffee grinders, disposals, vacuum cleaners, wind-blown plastic bags and anyone raising an arm or hand was not going to kill him. Jay met all kinds of people there. So each foster Jay has had has contributed to his growth and education. There is still more to do he is still a work in progress. Thanks to all these folks he has come such a long way.

Jay has been in foster for the longest time. He has some quirks, he needs a kind yet experienced owner. Is it you?
Better yet a forever home. as Jay matures, he has become a little wary around other dogs, but if they are patient with him.......he will soon be their best buddy.
he is used to hanging out with big dogs and we think this is best for him

Please adopt NOW jay needs new home ASAP
We are now pretty sure....... now that he is filling out, that he is a Dogo mix don't know the rest.... Beautiful and bashfulJay, with one brown eye and one 1/2 blue eye would love to come and live with you. At just 18 mos. he is a big puppy. We feel that he came from a very abusive situation and is a little shy around people, but gets better and better each day. He even made it through a Thanksgiving dinner with 15 guests! One of the best things about Jay is that he likes other dogs. In fact we think he would do best in a home with at least one other, largish playful dog and a fun loving active family His play skills are excellent. He still needs a little basic obedience training but again is getting better day by day He will weigh around 60 lbs when fully grown. He is fine around older children. We do not know about cats Please ask us about him!
