Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Beegs is currently living in an excellent foster home in Houston, Texas and is available for out-of-state adoption.**
This adorable guy is a 1 year old Beagle who landed at the Houston city shelter. He’s just too sweet and fun-loving to not have a family to love him. He joined the pack at Reggie’s Friends and we’ve promised him that he will be safe and loved for the rest of his life with his very own people.
Beegs is very sweet and friendly. He loves attention from his fosters and he has certainly bonded to them quickly and easily. He loves having these friends so much that sometimes whines a little when they have to leave the house for a little bit. With time and routine, he will realize that his family is always going to return to him.
He is a hound breed, so he has a good amount of energy when he is outside. He likes to chase squirrels and birds and will run after a ball. He won't bring it back yet, but he likes to play and to be chased around the yard. He would love to have a yard where he can gallop around in the care-free Beagle way. He is learning to walk on the leash currently and he is doing well, but he does still pull some when he gets excited. He needs more time and practice to be perfect, but we have no doubt he’ll get it quickly.
Beegs is pretty calm inside the house. He likes to nap around, spend time with his new friends, and chew on his new toys, especially his Nylabone. We learned quickly that he likes to pull all of the stuffing out of the plush toys, so we’ve decided to stick to the indestructible toys for now. He is a young pup and exploring this new world of being inside, so we recommend crating him while he is unsupervised until he learns the house rules in his new family.
His ideal family is an active one because his breed is known to be energetic and inquisitive. He loves long walks, jogs and playtime out in the yard. He doesn’t currently live with any children, but he’s very friendly so we can see that a couple of older children that like to play and chase would be excellent for him. He doesn't seem to be too keen on the cats that he’s met in his neighborhood so far, so a cat-free home is best for him.
Beegs likes nothing more than to be loved on and scratched and given attention loads of affection. He follows his foster mom around the house and loves to be near the family. He jumps up on people when he gets excited as if he’s giving hugs, but his foster family is working with him to break that habit. He is very smart, so we know he can learn that. He learned how to sit and learned the word "no" within a week of joining his foster family. A basic training course could be an amazing way to bond and teach him more commands quickly. Beegs is fully house trained and crate trained, although his foster mom allows him to stay inside the house with gates blocking off the areas he’s not allowed in yet.
This great little dog is available for adoption and his adoption fee is $450 to cover his airline flight and travel crate. If you are interested in learning more about Beegs or would like to add him to your family, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org.
