My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet little Ava. She is a 10 pound, 2 year old Maltese/Doxie mix who packs a big punch in her little body. She came here with a bit of an attitude but she did learn quickly to adjust. She just needed a firm but guiding hand her first couple of days but she has settled in nicely and now fits in well with the rest of the pack (altho she is very bossy with them) In fact, while she came in not liking to be hugged or kissed, she now jumps up into my arms and seems to enjoy our moments of affection together. Because of this, she will need an experienced owner who will know how to handle a headstrong dog. Once you establish yourself as the "boss", Ava knows to get with the program. And in this case it took all of 2 weeks for her to adjust. Ava must have been groomed pretty regularly. She comes running when she hears the bath water being run and she enjoys being pampered with the hair dryer - EVEN when she is already dry! (must like the heat) She doesn't like to share her toys so she can only go to an adult only home. Again, she will be a perfect companion for an older person or a home with grown kids as long as the ground rules are established early. She does like to be close to her human - she just doesn't like to be squeezed too tightly.

Ava is spayed and current with her vaccines. She is not much of a shedder and does have a coat that will require some upkeep to keep her from matting. She likes to walk and will be a great partner for an evening stroll around the neighborhood. She keeps her crate clean & tidy and goes outside to do her business. She is a little love tho and will be a great companion in the right home.
