My name is Lela. I am a docile, demure Chocolate lab.
I am 2 1/2 years old and 40 pounds. I was brought into the shelter on 1/13/2015 by animal control. It was so cold, I was trying to find food and shelter and it was just so miserable.
When I got to the shelter, the floors were warm, the food good and dry, the water fresh and clean. It was such a relief to not have to fend for myself anymore.
I am a sweet girl, a happy girl, but nothing would make me happier than finding a family of my own that will love me and care for me.
After my physical exam, they learned that I have heartworms. That puts me in a terrible situation. I hear that animals with heartworms have a very hard time finding families to adopt them, so if I'm here too long, I could become a bad statistic, and I really want to live.
Thank you in advance for reading my story.
CHS will pay for and fully supervise her HW treatment, and will either adopt her or foster her until the gentle “Slow Kill” treatment is completed. CHS is a no-kill shelter, and we try our best to help these “Highly At Risk” dogs find a new loving home.
Lela has been very well vetted and has an extensive kennel card that shows her health care to have been excellent.
