Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SADIE IN DENVER, COLORADO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
If you would like to adopt Sadie in Denver, Colorado, please fill out our adoption application on our website at www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org or direct inquiries to Connie at conniel@andell.com
Meet Sadie, or Sadie Sue as her foster mom likes to call her. Sadie is a super-sweet Griff-mix who was surrendered to a shelter by a family who could no longer care for her. Thankfully, she was spotted by an NBGR volunteer, and we sprang into action to fetch her. This girl was a stinky mess, but as you can see from her pictures, she cleans up really well.
Sadie is shy at first, but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and start wagging her tail. She is mellow and very content sitting at your feet. Sadie is good on walks and LOVES to explore outside. She also knows a few basic commands, is house trained, and has NOT had ANY accidents in the house.
There are a few things that frighten Sadie: thunderstorms, loud noises, and quick movements -- and sometimes she gets frightened and hides for reasons unknown. At one point a few days after she arrived at her foster home, Sadie hid. She did such a good job of hiding that her foster mom couldn’t find her anywhere in the house. When she couldn’t find Sadie, she feared she had somehow slipped out the door. After an extended search outside, the foster mom came home to find Sadie, grinning ear to ear and tail wagging, waiting inside the front door for her. They were both very happy to see each other, but Sadie kept her hiding place a secret.
As sweet as Sadie is, she would not do well with young children because she is a bit shy and quick movements scare her. Because she has proved to be skittish, it is important that her new home have a secure fence just in case she bolts when she is in the yard.
She gets along with other dogs but has not shown any interest in playing with her foster sibs. This might be her way of telling us she prefers to be an only child. To our knowledge she has not been around cats.
Sadie is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 20 lb. Her foster mom has her on a diet to help her lose a few pounds. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and on a preventive.
Sadie can float into your home and life, and it will be as if she has lived with you forever. She will be a devoted forever friend. In return she just wants to be loved…and get a few belly rubs. Do you have a soft spot in your heart where Sadie can land?
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
