My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zeus, a 3 year old Black male who is searching for a home to call his own.
Zues has always been a bit of a wandering man, he was kept outside in his first home and was always climbing the fence in search of companionship. Zues was found wandering a few months ago and when he was returned to his owner they decided that he needed a new home that had time for him and released him to rescue. We require fencing for all of the dogs we adopt out but because of his history of scaling fences we feel that Zues would be better off in a yard that has 6 ft wood or vinyl fencing. We will consider a chain link fence but only if it has anti climbing bars or electric fencing across the top. It may be that when he gets into a family situation where he is not alone he may not want to take off, but we do not want to take the chance.
Zues is a very kind and gentle soul. His favorite thing to do is sit by your side and snuggle in for hugs. He will snuggle in so close that he practically lays on top of you. If you do not want a dog that is constantly by your side this is not the dog for you. He gets along well with our female Danes and would love to have a female companion. However, Zues would be better off in a home without cats or small animals. He will ignore a sleeping cat and gently step over the top of the cat but if the cat is moving he wants to chase them. He is also very interested in chasing our chickens. He jumps and will bark at them, when told no or given a correction he stops, but he still watches them.
Zues is crate trained and knows basic commands. He responds very well to a soft voice and clear commands. He will cower if you yell at him. He is very patient and walks well on a loose lead. He waits at doors and at his kennel when asked. When he lays down he does a fantastic sea turtle impression.
He came to us with a very serious Urinary Tract Infection and because of that he was peeing very frequently both outside and in his kennel. Since we have put him on antibiotics he has not had a problem. However he is all boy and will mark in the house if not watched. Being that he was never in the house before he came here I don’t feel that he knows any better, and he has been responding well to training and will go to the door if he needs to potty. With time and training I think he will be ok.
As with all of our dogs Zues has been temperament tested, vetted and comes with appropriate vaccines and a Microchip.
If you are interested in meeting Zues you must fill out an application that you can find on our website at www.northwestgreatdanerescue.com due to the high volume of questions we receive on each dog we can only arrange meetings or phone calls after we have reviewed applications.
