Here's what the humans have to say about me:
LACEY
5 year old spayed female
Have you been looking for a sweet and beautiful golden girl? Look no further as Lacey is ready to find her forever home after being with SEVA GRREAT for almost a year. She has gone from 139 pounds to 106 and is so happy and full of life. Continued weight loss is recommended for Lacey to reach her optimal weight. Walking is no longer a struggle for this beautiful blonde girl. Her favorite pastimes are back rolling, ball playing and staring at you lovingly with her big brown eyes just waiting for you to pet her. Lacey is the perfect companion for just about anyone except for those that are looking hiking or running buddies. She adores children and she is so very tolerant of our 3 year old who loves to dress her up and shower her with hugs. There has not been a dog that she doesn't like and she is also great with cats. She loves riding in the car and has mastered the ramp perfectly for her trips out around town.
Sounds just about perfect doesn't she? We are looking for a very special family for our sweet Lacey as she does have a few medical issues that our vet has been able to control with special food and medication. Lacey has been diagnosed with a condition known as Protein Losing Nephropathy. The filtering mechanism in her kidneys is not working correctly and it allows too much protein to be filtered into her urine. Lacey's protein levels were extremely high back in May but have now stabilized with the help of special food. She will need to continue on her prescription food and have her protein levels monitored. The excessive weight also caused Lacey to have high blood pressure, this has also improved with the help of a daily blood pressure medication/exercise and she now has normal blood pressure. If that wasn't enough for our girl, the weight also caused Lacey to tear her ACL long before she entered SEVA. Lacey does not currently show any signs of limping or extreme difficulty with the torn ACL and our veterinarians feel it best for her not to have the surgery and control any current discomfort with pain medicine.
Lacey's perfect match will need to be comfortable with the added expense of daily medication and special food. She will need someone to provide her with daily exercise either through short walks or swimming. Please consider adding Lacey to your family and make yourself one of the lucky ones who ended up with one of the sweetest goldens ever.
