Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Crazy Cleo, as she is affectionately nicknamed, is not a dog for the faint of heart! At only 4yrs old, her energy is so abundant that it’s almost palpable. Her perfect family will need to be up to the challenge of meeting her active lifestyle and keeping her mentally challenged. Cleo is extremely smart (probably second only to our hound Bowser – but don’t tell her that) and as such will need an experienced handler to help her channel all 50lbs of that Cleo-ness into something awesome.
Her striking appearance, in addition to all those crazy smarts, leads us to believe she’s part Malinois or Shepherd. We’ll never really know, since she came to us as a stray that was found running around Hollywood two years ago (who would given up looking for this beauty is beyond us), but when you meet her, we think you’ll agree. And since that time, we’ve really seen her blossom into a fantastic companion and her potential to be even more amazing once she’s adopted is so obvious!
Enrichment is a big part of the Hallie Hill culture. We look to expose the dogs to new things either here on the property or on field trips out into the world. Cleo was one of the lucky dogs chosen to participate in a fun nosework exercise to help staff learn another fun way of interacting with the dogs and to help stimulate the dogs to use their noses as God intended – looking for treats in hidden places – of course! Bless her pea-pickin’ heart – she was easily distracted by all the commotion of the other jealous dogs who wanted to try and those darn squirrels that were mocking her from the trees…but it was clear that she liked ‘working’. Cleo is a dog that will need a purpose. A patient, willing adopter will help her hone her focus. Incidentally, she’s also the only dog here that has learned to walk on a treadmill! You have to be fearless to not be intimated by that thing!
For all her spunk, Cleo really does seem to love being with people, and she does settle down and enjoy one-on-one people time. We know it’s only a matter of time before the right family comes along looking for a very smart, sleek, athletic and happy dog. When they do – Cleo will be right here waiting to meet them at the gate. Until then, she can be found keeping her new kennelmate, Jax, on his little doggy-toes!
