Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Khoja was adopted from us as a kitten about eleven years ago. Her owner was a nice enough young woman, and when she went on her honeymoon, we boarded Khoja for her for a month free of charge. After that, her owner (or maybe her new hubby) started having issues with Khoja. She called me for advice frequently, but after they had a baby it seemed too much for them to take care of Khoja's occasional miss in the litter box area. With tears, her owner returned her to me, while all I could think of was of how she would deal with a baby if she couldn't deal with a sweet little cat (and so far, she has not tried to dump the baby on me)! All I asked before taking Khoja back was that she take her to the vet, have a thorough check up and shots update. She took her to the Merwyn FREE clinic, where they updated her shots and told her she had food allergies AND a eye that may eventually need to be removed. Khoja was given to me without as much a morsel of proper food to eat, and she had ripped off much of the skin on her neck already(due to the itchy allergy). Khoja was given either little or NO MEDICAL CARE over the ten years that woman had her! Khoja has been on a diet of Hill's ZD and all her fur grew back. We have to keep her in a cage instead of mixing her with the other cats so she doesn't get into their food. I wish I had a foster home for her, or an entire room she could have, but we don't. She gets out of her cage nightly to stretch and run around(she is very energetic for her age), but mostly she sticks with me for petting and praising! SHE LOVES PEOPLE!!! She is not crazy about other cats-she was an only cat for a decade. She will need special food her whole life, and although it's not urgent yet, her eye may need to be removed. We will make absolutely sure she has EVERYTHING she needs medically. By the way, we figured out she just needed a covered litter box, she doesn't squat. Good thing we make adopters sign a paper that says if ever they can't keep the cat, they bring her back to US AND ONLY US. I would hate to think what would have happened to this babydoll if her owner ignored that.
