My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Everybody! Im Marsha, but my foster mom calls me Lily. Just like my friend Cat (Rosie), I didn't have a very good life before this. I started out in Missouri at a puppymill so no one really knows how old I am. My job was to have as many puppies as I could. I was a good mom - I sure do miss my puppies. When I got to Rescue, they took me to the Dogtor to help me feel better. I had surgery so I can’t have any more puppies, I got my teeth fixed, and they gave me medicine for my eye. The nice Dogtor told me that I have an ulcer that could possibly get better. For now, I just sit very still when it is time for my medicine since I know it is helping me not be in so much pain. When I got here, I had a little seizure during my bath. Then I had another one on Monday so my FM took me to see the Dogtor here in Madison, WI. They ran some tests and found that everything was perfect. They think that I am very stressed out from all the changes. I love people, but you have to go slow with me; sudden movements make me scared. Well, that's all for now! It was nice to meet you!
FM here.... Marsha (Lily) is a very sweet dog. She has behaviors like most Puppy Mill dogs. She is not used to a lot of movement so will startle easily. Although she is afraid, she would rather sit on your lap and get attention than to cower in her cage. When Lily first arrived, it was very easy to see that she spent years in a wire cage. Her pads have chronic irritation and because she was so badly matted, they had to shave off most of her hair. She does shake a lot, but that is due to the shock of not having hair. Right now, Lily wears a sweater to help her regulate her temperature. Although Lily is 7.4 pounds, she is a bit heavy and should be around 6.5. With a better diet, she will likely reach that weight without any other restrictions. Lily is up-to-date on her shots and will be ready for adoption in a few weeks after her eye heals. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application. Thanks for supporting United Yorkie Rescue!
