My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

8/15/15 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $400

Fostered in Alabama

Age: 3 years

Weight: 11.6 lbs.

DYLAN IS A SILKY TERRIER!

7/15/15 - Aloha from Hawaii! Okay, so I am not in Hawaii today, but I was born there and my Hawaiian shirt still fits. I have lived on the mainland, as we Hawaiians call it, for a while. My heart still swells with nostalgia when I hear a ukulele. I dance a pretty good hula; I will dance on my hind legs when my food bowl is being prepared. I love warm weather; sitting in the garden in the sun is one of my favorite activities. Who knows? If you get me a life jacket, we might be able to go out on the water together and I can remember the beautiful island where I was born.

My first family, who I lived with most of my three years, gave me away because they did not have time for me anymore. My second family, who I was with for about two months, had to relinquish me to rescue because I had some allergy (we thought) issues on my undercarriage that no one seemed to be able to resolve; with each new vet and vet visit, symptoms became worse. I'm now in my foster home, and after a rocky start with what I had going on in the itchy department, we seem to have reached a happy medium. I had always been in active homes with small children; it seems that I can feed off of the activity in the home, as well as environmental changes which we believe were causing hives and making me scratch and lick myself raw underneath. Foster mom has this awesome stuff called Stress Away which is a soft chew that I take daily and it is helping me work through the unfortunate behavior that I learned in previous homes.

Foster mom says that I am a sweet, energetic Silky Terrier that is well mannered and not at all demanding. I don't really care to play with the other dogs in the house, but I will play with my two-leggers. I also like to sit next to my humans, or on their lap, while being petted or getting a belly rub.

I'm a very smart young man and usually only need to be told something once and I pick up on it. I am fearful of loud noises and quick movements; which may be a result of my first rambunctious household. I am not much of a barker like the Yorkies here at my foster home, but I can talk. For those who don't know, it is a Silky characteristic to make cute noises informing foster mom of something I want or don't want.

I do love to be near my person and rather than explore, I will stay next to foster mom while she is gardening in the backyard. I do respect your space and will sleep at the foot of the big bed.

As you can see from my portfolio, I have beautiful silky hair which is very soft to the touch. My tail is long which only lets you see my personality more and my ears flop forward slightly which I think gives me more character.

Foster mom takes me for a daily walk of at least a mile and I love it. Since I'm young and energetic, I will need a new mom and/or dad who is active and will keep my mind challenged and provide me with daily exercise. I do like my down time too, I'm just not a total couch potato.

I'd do best in a home with just adults or older children who can give me attention and exercise and expect love and devotion in return. I think that pretty much sums me up. If you are interested, email my foster mom or fill out an adoption application and we can start the process to see if we are right for each other.

6/17/15 - BIO COMING SOON!
